post=102094
Hello here is a double post because I have deemed this merits one:

That actually looks...

Now you must agree to never go into a topic where people are asking for beta testers and give me dirty looks! Geez I said I was sorry!

The price is too high.

I'll check it out and see how it works, thanks a lot for the work.

Regarding the translation

You could always study the other RS3 char poses. I use RS3 chars as well, and there are lots of idle poses floating around. Since regular RS3 chars don't show any weapon in their idle pose, one of them should give you something to emulate, especially since you aren't shrugging away from "actiony" poses. I would suggest one of the "psuedo-lean" forward ready poses, with less emphasis on the leaning and more on the fact that he isn't standing flat footed.

The RS3 characters dont have an idle animation at all. They just stand there.

I have the entire RS3 sprite sheet, as well as a bunch of ROM hack sprites. =/

@NB: Nero's pose looks absolutely retarded. Otherwise, it's really good! Seriously though, it looks like he is standing with his chest puffed out a foot in front of him, but his legs are clearly both in view so that's not possible... I just don't know what's is going on!

Making an idle stance for a weaponless caster is really, really difficult. I'm open to any ideas.

Monsters are facing the wrong way

Background looks like it was optimized in MS paint

Characters are placed in a way that makes my head asplode. ("Julia" the character in the front is third on the list... wut)

There's a funny story behind this screen... Well, it's not so funny as it is long, and pointless. Here we go:

A few months ago I redid the battles gylphs for my game, rejoicing was done. There was some work left undone; but that could be saved for later.

I come back later, whilst waiting for my brother some artwork for the game done, to finish it up when the gylph file vanished off the face of my hard drive... SO It was time to start over. When starting over I had remember neophyte's advice I had ignored due to laziness overlooked earlier and took special care to align icon and the text, something a lot of people apparently overlook.

While I was there I figured "Well, let's change the hp and mp icons into something more minimalistic!"
then I thought "why does Nero stand like a cardboard cutout?" so I fixed him too... After that I realized "... Why does the select bar obscure the atb meter" So I went around and fixed that too! Finally, I realized the arrow selector was misaligned (and, funnily enough impossible to properly align due to size constraints) so I just removed it,as it's pointless screen filler anyway.

The importance of Music in a game

Oh, I had almost forgot to mention; I suggest to anyone Panzer Dragoon's musical score.Panzer Dragoon Saga's musical score in particular was fantastic in my opinion.

Attack-Spamming

It is a delicate dance. If you make it too much of a hassle to even get through the average battle; the player may lose patience and just not want to play; if you make it too simplistic - it becomes boring.

With that said, this sounds like a perfectly reasonable excuse to mention my game for no reason!

As much as I hate the shtick; it's the easiest way to get my meaning across. Each character has their own set of commands. Some characters lack the attack command, some lack the defend command, hell; two characters in the game won't even be able to use the item command; a staple in pretty much every RPG.

Not only does it give each character further distinction from one another (the others being abilities stats and equipment capabilities), but it is an elegant first step to solving the attack mashing problem. The second step would be to, as many others have done, giving enemies certain weaknesses and strengths; as well as requiring the player to even heal during normal battles; while of course taking care to not make the encounters too long.

Shorter and harder encounters, giving the player the option to avoid fighting sometimes, and making each character distinct are a few basic steps every game can take to make battles a little more interesting.
