It's because he's running. He has a regular walking animation too... However it's supposed to be a 5-6 frame animation, which is why it looks a bit strange.
Hm,maybe I could adjust it slightly to make it look more suitable for a 3 frame animation.

I think its just silly. Games are games, people are such drama whores about it. I don't understand where this "circle jerking" comes into play - if anything, I think the individuals who go around and burn threads, accusing games to be "JRPG!" are the ones that are ruining the forums, but enough of that.
The circle jerking supposedly comes from the community not giving acknowledgment to the games the staff thinks are good. The Sewer Goblet is one example I've heard a lot. I won't deny that it's well constructed, but I'm just not into that type of game. Was that wrong of me (and others) to not download?
But what exactly happened back there? I can't really look at the forums at all.

We sell your exact desk at the place I work in, Neophyte. Looks surprising nice with your set up, actually.

That was a pretty cool video! Hopefully you create some mind bending gap-jumping puzzles. :)
That would require me to have a brain. :(

Fixed a lot of things since the last screenshot.
Fixed up the colors on the sprite, added the jumping mechanisms, and removed the fog.
Also, I've since removed the guide arrows for jumping. You will be able to jump through over any small gap in the dungeon, while some of the less obvious leaps will be marked by the shown arrows / icons.

You can leap over the small pits, but I wonder if I should add a small arrow next to the small gaps you can leap over to let the player know this...
DISCUSS: NPCs
Npcs, (at least the type that inhabit towns) are very versatile.
They can do anything from help set the mood, provide you with extra / free items, or even give the player a good chuckle.
If you want to have good npcs, it's important to establish early in the game their worth. A small and easy fetch sub quest is (I think) a good way to inform the player that some npcs will have fun or useful things.
Expanding on the mood point, a happy, prosperous town would naturally be filled with various ware peddlers, tourists and wealthy / happy citizens, while an impoverished town will be filled with hobos, vagabonds and the like. Not only do they add that necessary extra something to a town; but they can provide general information on the current situation of the area in a convincing way (IE: Player talks to a hobo, and hobo mentions for no apparent reasons that the mayor of the town is doing something suspicious, when it would be much more convincing to have him and his friend complain about getting "screwed over by the man")
Whether or not the game world is interesting or not, it's pretty much necessary to have NPCs in every town, so you may as well take at least five minutes to make them a little more interesting than "That sky looks like ground".
