OK, I'm curious. I want your opinions. Just tell me exactly why you think Brasington is so repulsive.

A popular game and a well received, good game can be two entirely different things! To get a lot of positive comments just make a, you know, good game and sit back and wait. Indogutsu just wanted large amounts of people to play his games

The word "popularity" would imply that the game itself is well received. "Can be entirely different things!"? They aren't. Period.

and you have to admit, you at least played that one awful game with fantastic graphics.

Had you even have bothered to read the rest of my post, I admitted exactly that. Why exactly did you even bother saying this?

If you want your game to be popular, you need one of two things:
-Be known in the community
-Have awesome custom graphics

And if you manage to have both of those down, people will declare your game the best before they've ever even played it. Now that's the way to go.

So in conclusion: I'm Ramshackin. I have a tree for an avatar. Remember me and try out my game.

I have to say, I'm really getting tired of this sentiment that making a well received game takes some sort of arcane ritual. Now, popularity of course helps; but you need to consider other things if you want more people to try your game. Also, you need to bear in mind that not everyone who downloads and even enjoys your game is there to stroke your ego.

If you want your game to be popular, you have to do something memorable. It's not going to fall onto your lap just because you cry bitterly over it. It's not going to pop out of the sky because you review 5 games a week, and it isn't even going to smash you on the head if your game has impressive custom graphics. (IE: Anyone else remember that game with fantastic graphics that had a poorly written story and really awful gameplay? I forgot it's name... Proving my point.)

I'd hate to use myself as an example here, but my game(s) are somewhat popular only because of my seniority. I've been around these parts for awhile. Should I attempt to push my game anywhere else (Such as Game jolt) I get a a few extra downloads, but nothing else. What does this mean? Does this mean their community is inferior? No, it means I have to market my game better to a wider audience, which is exactly what I plan to do once I'm ready release new work.

Since RMN is one of the most active English-language RPG Maker sites, I thought that by becoming a member I could introduce my friends' games to an entirely new audience after being involved with RM for almost as long as RM has existed. Of course, this maneuver was somewhat of a failure, generating very little enthusiasm for our hard work. Only one possible conclusion can be drawn: we're just not that good.

I'm curious about the reason behind the community's general apathy towards Brasington Lane's expansive body of work. We have our own message board and dozens of YouTube videos with footage from our carefully-produced games, and we encourage our viewers and players to give us feedback, comments, criticism, etc.

I don't mean to open up old wounds with this following question, but how much of our lack of appeal has to do with our connection to Gaming Ground Zero? The impression I got from you all in my introduction thread was that most of you have either forgotten the feud, or the whole thing happened before you became active.

So, this long winded and wandering post can be easily summarized with "Why don't any of you bother to play my games". Disregarding the really annoying way you narrate dialogue in your "Let's play" videos, let me begin with this.

A simple screenshot of this guy's game is very telling. The presentation is just awful. It looks as if little to no effort was made in putting this game's scenery together. Random tiles are jumbled all over the place and conflicting styles are used within the same tileset, and a hero randomly talking to himself; throwing out a barrage of information for no apparent reason in the game's introduction scene.

The only appealing thing here is the font. If I had been just browsing around, I would have closed the video off and just passed it off as another crappy RM2k3 youtube video... But I'll dive further.

Knowing full well that the level design was atrocious and the dialogue equally so; I decided to try and find some game play... I took a look at 11th video in your series and had a glimpse at the dungeon / field gameplay. Nothing interesting here either. Just a lot of mashing of the enter key. So, let's take a look at all of the information that's front and center for me, a guy who has no connection to your friend whatsoever.

- Absolutely horrendous visuals
- Tedious and generic dialogue
- Underwhelming, typical game play.

+ Nice Fonts
+ Caterpillar system

In the end, it just looks an uninteresting mess thrown together by someone who has a lot to learn about the basics before worrying about NICE FONTS, CATERPILLAR SYSTEMS and FANCY INTRODUCTION LOGOS.

7 (strange number) frames repeating for the most part, then a loooong fadeout. ripped and i'm just animating it

hey, how's this for service: http://rpgmaker.net/users/132/locker/leo_shock.rar

so repeat the first 7 frames as long as you want and then use the fadeout accordingly or do your own. remember, kids, positive blending is your friend.

Thanks a lot, I've been looking for this for a long time now. I'll upload a video once I'm done with this great resource you've shared.

I'm gonna take on FFX-2 again. I rebought it a while ago, and im gonna give it another go in the mindset of not really expecting much storyline wise.
I never liked FFX-2. I found it a little boring (I am lying about the little ). The game became way too repetitive, and the story didn't help either. I suppose taking your way of going about it, you might find it slightly more enjoyable.

i am playing FF6 AGAIN. rippin' shit along the way.
I just started doing this myself. If you happen to make it to this area of the game before me, would you be able to rip General Leo's "Shock" ability animation for me? (Not the sprite, mind you)

I attempted to rip Leo's 'Shock' ability, but it ended up being way to big and having WAY to many animations to fit into a standard large battle animation template, so I stopped :(.

That's strange, it always seemed like 5 repeating frames at the most.

Age of Conan digital download; first to reply gets a free game

SO! I decided to enter a raffle for a game I already had. It's probably one of the only decent MMORPGs around right now. Be forewarned that this download is fairly big, and the system requirements aren't really approachable. BUT, if you don't mind these two things; I'll give you my MMORPG.com login name. After that you just fill in the form and I assume you get a link to the digital download. Said digital download comes with 30 days game time.

For those who are used to the traditional MMORPG pitfalls, you may be pleasantly surprised... well, by at least the introduction of the game. Initially, my plan was to hold some kind of self indulgent fan art contest to promote my game. The winner would receive the digital download; however; it occurred to me that a contest like this would seem a little obnoxious... Also, the game itself is only worth around 19.99 at this point... Oh well.

New Glyphs look good and new system skin?

Its still the same. It's transparent, so in that particular shot you see a bit of the desert background I was using in that screenshot.

Sorry, I'll contribute something a little more interesting as soon as possible. Can't exactly take a screenshot of every scene of the game.
