Five Strategies for Better Game-Making

I always thought I was being stupid when I went into great detail to not only analyze the bigger picture of my characters but the smaller details too. And not just my fan-games, I love just about every character I've made because...well, because. I am God and I love my creations, even though I make their lives horrible :3

But I guess it's not as stupid as I thought.

Why DQIX is more progressive than you

Touch encounters suck.

Why? Because they don't promote level development. I don't care how frustrated you get at my game, there are going to be fights you will not be able to avoid. You will either be lumped with randoms or having to fight to survive.
When I play touch encounter games, I avoid every single monster. That's what EVERYONE does. It's a natural habit. And by doing that I end up under damn levelled at a boss at throw the game out a window.

FF13 does touch encounters in an alright way, but I still found myself less developed than I should've been. It ticks me off. Random encounters don't do this to me. It is the one and only thing I put in games as a developer that players object to, because of how I approach it and because of how everyone else approaches it. It's medicine that they don't want to take but will help them in the long run.

Yes, touch encounters can be executed well. But usually they aren't. I think it takes experience in the field and...I don't play touch encounter games very often.

I like the idea of exploration promotion, items on the world map. I might have to give that a go in my own game, I do want to promote exploration as much as possible.

Thankyou very much for playing my game! :D. I'm sorry it was short, it was intentionally made to be similar to the Final Fantasy VII demo. About the battle window and a few of the graphics...most have been fixed. Kumo's has definitely been fixed. I've also added limit breaks into the mix as well.

Darksoul: Revival Review

Thankyou very much for the review Calunio and I agree with all the flaws you've pointed out. I was a little lazy with mapping, I'm not very good at it besides, and I was trying to make sure all the mapping was done before time so I could focus on bug testing and eventing errors, which are another massive flaw of mine.
And I apologize for the battle music. I think I'm just deaf :/.

I plan to improve this game because it's part of a bigger picture and I feel like I'm disrespecting Harry and Jackson by just leaving them like that.

I'm not very good at puzzle eventing, but I will give it a shot when I (if I ever get around to it) release an revised version.

Thanks again for the review, I like having a reference to know what I need to improve on a game and branch it out to my next games.
