Do you pretty much test as you go or after a build up of development?

Test as I go. I have a dedicated testing save file combined with Yanfly's Debug Extension script that I use to warp around the world and test the exact feature that was just added.

I'll also test in bulk every so often and play the game from start to finish, but this has become increasingly a problem as the game length grows.

I count 8 different types of trees. Try sticking to 2 or 3. One primary, a secondary to break up the clumps, and maybe a centerpiece tree.

Replacing Tanking with Smarter AI

Agreed. It's a shame the default system won't even let you give an enemy a healing skill and have them target allies that actually need healing.

Replacing Tanking with Smarter AI

Thanks for the comments! I've been having a lot of fun putting together the game's encounters.

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

@Ramramz-The only complaint I have would be how tiny those builings are. It doesn't really make any sense :P But I'm absolutely LOVING the first screenshot.

Then I should apologize in advance to everyone who has this pet peeve :p

ramshackin: I suggest opening up GIMP or PS or something and making some off-center bits to help make those maps pop. The structure is okay but imagine if, like, that tree top didn't line up exactly with the cliff above it, and you had some pebbles up against the cliff edge, etc...

Sounds good. I'll put some off center bits in the tileset and see if I can make us of them.

Finally working on the first story dungeon

Nonlinearity being used to temper high difficulty

I'm running into exactly what you described, except it's making the game too easy.

Say you have five different things to do at level 2, and five more to do at level 8, etc. The first thing you do at level 2 is well balanced and challenging, but the next four become increasingly too easy.

Assaulting players with the nerf bat

Some situations let the developer shape the nerf as something positive for the player. Like releasing new content where the enemies are ready to respond and react to the dominate character builds, but are weaker to the lesser used ones. Or if the power level of the skillset to nerf isn't extreme, leave them untouched and release buffed/reworked version of less used skills.

RMN BossRush ---CLOSED---

These are awesome.

I love the colors on this one.

Posting to agree with Liberty's advice. Why not try removing half the details and see how the map feels?

Edit:
@Pizza, the light beam rotation looks great. Have you considered a subtler light effect? Seeing it in motion, the beam steals the show and distracts from the rest of the map.
