Dego - Multiplayer Dungeon Crawler

I still haven't run into anyone else who gets the load sound error, Fallen-Griever. So if it's not outdated directx or audio drivers, then I really have no idea

Tossing up a new series of screenshots:

"If we travel past the horizon, what do you think we'll find?"
"I don't know, I don't care. Just as long as we walk together..."

Dego - Multiplayer Dungeon Crawler

A lot of these questions can be answered by playing the game, so:
>Beta Download Here<

Okay, let me try to get everything
  • Forget I even mentioned a story! Dungeon crawlers don't offer the best ways to tell stories, and they rarely play any important part. Most players wont even pay attention to what the NPCs are saying. Don't get me wrong, there is a story and it will offer more than the basic outline above
  • I'm sorry if I offended anyone with a racial title, I can change it if it's a problem. :-[
  • I'll be honest here, I fully expect 98% of people to play this game alone. The other 2% might play with another friend. Who knows? I'm putting in support for four players because this game is primarily for my friends. We got a bunch of Wiimotes that we sync up to the computer, but no multiplayer games to play! If anyone else manages to get 4 people playing this, keep up the good work! ;D
  • Not made in RM. I saw an option for custom engine on the main site, so I assumed other rpgs were accepted.
  • Mr. McGee, this is only a beta; the framework of what the game will be. The dungeon is just something thrown together to test out multiple types of combat environments (well, basically crowded rooms and open rooms), not an accurate example of the game's setting/style.
  • Default controls for other players - I don't really know off the top of my head. You can change them to whatever you want from the title screen anyway
  • No online, sorry guys. I don't want to deal with hosting a server to support a lobby system so people can find parties.

Okay Fallen-Griever, on to your weird error :o
No one's ever come across that before, so it might be a local problem
  • Was there an error while extracting?
  • Do you have your latest audio drivers?
  • Do you have the latest version of directx 90.c(November 2008)?

Okay, anyone else actually play the game? I really need feedback on balances the classes.

~Storyline~
You play the ignorant, silent hero sent to save the people by slaying the mysterious, evil lord. ???

~Characters~

You - The main hero of this tale. Design your custom character, choose your class, and set out on an adventure! Your appearance can be changed at any time, provided you've found or bought the clothes.

Your friends - Have up to 3 optional party members join your adventure! Mix and match classes and weapon types to come up with the funnest way to lay waste to any foe that crosses your path!

~Combat~
Because of the multiplayer nature, I wanted the game to focus more on player skill than their time spent collecting experience. While upgrading your stats does make you awesome, personal experience plays a bigger role than statistical experience.

~Beta Featues~
-22 items
-3 monsters
-1 short testing dungeon
-90% working menu

~Ok, how do I play?~
A button attacks
B button uses your special attack, determined by weapon
Double tap a direction to do a dodge/dash
Hold A+B for a second to use your class determined skills
Beneath your hp their is a yellow bar, when it is 1/4 of the way full, you can use your level 1 skill. When it is 2/4, you can use your level 2 skills, etc.
Dungeon ends with 3 chests for each character. Press Escape to return to menu

Arrows keys, Z, X are default controls btw

There you have it! Help me balance this game out before I jump into making real content. What class did you play? What skills were cool? What weapons rocked?
