Soul Sunder Review

Thanks so much for the review, addict! It's a great feeling to know that this game still gets attention every now and then!

Regarding the cartoonish faces: I did that to provide some counterbalance for all the heavy themes of survivor's guilt and depression to make the journey a little more bearable for the player. If it was all misery, all the time, I felt like the characters would be too flat and one note to be interesting to follow (see also: Zero's excitement over sweet treats and explosions).

I feel like I found a better tonal balance in the follow up, Prayer of the Faithless, with more emphasis on character banter than slapstick anime facial expressions, so this was still a great learning project for me.

Shotgun Knight Review

Fair enough. I don't think anyone was expecting this game to light the world on fire, but I liked the direction Zephire98 took the game once he got ahold of it.

Thanks for the review!

Psychostasis Review

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you liked it!

Yeah, I agree with you on the mapping. Environment design was never my strong suit, but in this case it was more of a technical limitation. When trying out more dense and populated maps, Eva's pathfinding bugged out and she'd get caught running into dead ends and killing any sort of tension chase sequences would have had. I didn't have time to figure out the right layout to prevent that from happening, so I just threw up my hands and emptied out the rooms.

Still, for a short game, I think this came out alright. Again, thanks for the review! I'm glad someone still remembers that this exists!

Hell on High Heels Review

Thanks for the review, lobo! Sorry you were let down by some of the aspects of the game, but I think I achieved what I set out to do, and pianotm knocked it out of the park with his additions. It's also a shame you aren't gonna do ng+ since that's where I feel the game is at its best. But hey, if the initial playthrough was at least amusing to you, then mission accomplished! Comedy games are unfamiliar territory for me, so I'm glad at least some parts of the game landed with you!

My main question is what exactly is the inspiration for Princess Nia since this character archetype is rather common.

My intention for creating Nia was to take the trope of "spoiled princess growing as a person," and go hard in the opposite direction for laughs. With her tantrums being so loud and so obnoxious they break the game's design, her antics only get worse the more you play and mess around. I had absolutely no interest in giving her character any real redeeming qualities, and thought that seeing just how far she'd go to get her way would be enough of a reason for players to keep going.

Thanks again for the review!

Your enthusiasm revived my long dead hype for the game. Now, I want to play it again and read the themes section afterwards.

I'd love to hear your thoughts if you finish it!

Prayer of the Faithless Review

O_O Holy...

I am absolutely FLOORED right now! Thank you SO MUCH for leaving this massive wall of analysis! I know you said you had a long review coming, but this went well beyond my elevated expectations.

So much so that... man, I don't even know where to begin responding! The spoiler-heavy section was extremely appreciated. Though it was such a huge part of the review, there isn't much I can really comment on because your thoughts and interpretations of the characters and plot are all valid. Not all of it was what I intended, but you clearly articulated why you felt the way that you did, and it's completely understandable that you arrived at certain conclusions about the themes and story.

Seriously, I can't thank you enough for this review! Seeing someone dive this deep into the gameplay and characters gives me life as a dev, and I'm so happy I made something that provoked this much thought from you.

Excuse me while I go scream from the balcony.

The Geterix Legacy Review

Thanks for the review, lobo! I'm glad you liked it. As for a sequel expectation, I didn't really plan to do anything else with this game after the event, but I didn't have time to sit down and resolve all the plot points that were brought up in the first half. That's why I left the endings more open so players can draw their own conclusions on how the story plays out from there.

Still, though. I'm glad you liked what was here. Writing banter between Meurig and Trixie was my favorite part of taking over the project.

The Geterix Legacy Review

Thanks for taking the time to review this game! I'm glad you liked the banter between Meurig and Trixie. That was the most fun part for me when when I took over.

Hell on High Heels Review

Thanks for the review! I'm glad Nia's personality and gimmicks were well-received. Pianotm did such a great job with her shennanigans that I had a big smile plastered across my face the entire time I was playing it.

The Gift Review

That's amazing to hear, Tw0Face! Thanks for sharing that.
