Soul Blade may disable certain late-game enemies from using deadly skills over and over - notably Exhaust Air, Lightning, and Zap. It also helps shut down annoying enemies that spam CC skills such as poison or stun. A bit niche in use though yes!

Guard Rate determines how strong the Guard command is (the higher it is, the more damage you resist when Guarding)

Gerhard's Critical Charge is a stronger variant of Critical Stance - it's effects are indeed the same, aside from slight differences in value (Charge has +25/30% rate and +50/75% damage, while Stance has 20/25% and 50/70%)
Eagle Eye increases Hit rate along with a different variant of Critical Charge (20/30% rate and 30/100% damage)

Abyss Cage is a lot more effective with a Physical-oriented Sordis (Power Burst and criticals would massively increase the effectiveness of that skill). In my playthrough, I found it a very consistent boss-killer and excellent damage dealer!
A lot of your skills's damage calculations depend on the subclass - subclass stats and passives aren't something to ignore after all! I'm glad that it turned out being a caster Sordis is just as well as a fighter Sordis.

Slashdown +1 increases the damage inflicted if the target's HP isn't under Randell's - (for example, if the target got healed right before it was used)

Oh yay! You bought the flame shield! I put it in shop literally FOR that dungeon.

Substar definitely has a lot of Etrian Odyssey feeling on it, but it's equally inspired by the DS game 7th Dragon! (which is actually directed by the same person)
It's a lot lighter in content than both those games though!

Absolute is more or less equivalent to Almighty, yes!

Floor 17 is a bit special in that way since it's supposed to teleport you to fixed coordinates but make it look like you didn't teleport (I couldn't figure out how to not make it fade ahaha)

The second boss actually DOES have an innate weakness to ailments. That, in addition to Sickness doubling any and all ailment damage, makes ailments a really good way to down the boss. Good to know you used it! (And yes I should ahaha)
Poison does more than damage per turn - if I recall, it reduces healing and attack as well. Abyss Cage can deal a lot of damage depending on the amount of ailments the enemy is inflicted with, it can be a lot!
All of the passives can also be upgraded to +1 - Pastelle's in particular makes it so that she regens MP whenever getting hit by any MAGIC attack at +1.

On the topic of weapon and armor variety, I definitely did want to add a lot more variety!

Power Burst was scaled up due to the way Criticals work in substar - they do damage based on the actor's Critical Damage stat; meaning that Power Burst is potentially far stronger than Magia Burst.

Boss drops are infinite use, but they can only be used once per dungeon visit - you have to return to town and visit the dungeon again to use it.

Side quests and NPC dialogue are definitely a thing I really want to improve on - given more time I'd love to make a game with a much more varied sidequest and miscellaneous things to do sort of place!

Time spent making the interface and effect was like 30 minutes, plus bug fixes, since I based the scripts off an older project that I didn't release

Most of the time I spent making the actors,skills,enemies and readjusting all the skills (and fixing bugs in the test project)

Also very little balancing was done uehehehe

This game uses so much fancy japanese I can't fully understand everything ahaha.
XP should be able to play ogg files, but XP doesn't support ogg streaming (takes longer to load for long songs) or loop points (can't use loop tags) like VX and Ace.

@Cash like a million pages ago: I don't think me alone can show that much of proficiency: most of the games I make that are big and shiny, always have more than enough help from a lot of people. Substar, HWS, LiAR, and PrinPrin aren't exclusively my work, you know! (though maybe the graph really is too small)
I don't know if I can fairly rate anyone right now since I don't play much rm games/games in general (i really should ;-; one day... when not busy with school/work)

what do you think about different colored stars for reviews of incomplete games? Makes it easier to tell at a glance that a review is for an incomplete game, and if a game doesn't have a review thats up to date by seeing their star rating in a different color.

[RMVX ACE] silly question---how do you take a screenshot?

Windows (7 and onwards?) has a built in Snipping Tool that makes it rather easy to take screenshots of sections or whole windows.
Type it in the Start menu and see if it comes up?
