SAILERIUS'S PROFILE
Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home.
What do you think happened to me?

It bothered me so much that I couldn't open the treasure chests. It always expected something to jump out, like a monster, or a precious memory.
...And this would be a good section to put in the part where Auria finds out that Vel slept with Rayonne while transforming into her.
I like the way you think.
Vacant Sky Vol. 1: Contention
author=videocrazy
I'm trying to download the set, as this looks really interesting, but I'm coming across an annoying problem. Specifically, when I try to download Act III, it says it's hosted on a different server. I click download, and the page I go to keeps giving me "The connection was reset" error. Is there a mirror for Act III?
Ah, looks like that host went down. I changed the link. Thanks for the heads up. Grab it here:

Upcoming Title Change
Is it really necessary to announce an announcement? Why not wait and make the blog post when you're ready to make the announcement?
What games are you looking forward to?
I'm really looking forward to Final Fantasy Versus XIII, even though it'll probably be another decade before it comes out. I'm also one of the three people looking forward to XIII-2.
RPGs aside, I'm looking forward to Silent Hill Downpour, which I just heard about last night. I'm really digging the game's new aesthetic, though it's a pity that there's no more Akira Yamaoka to orchestrate the descent into hell.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
I use 3ds Max and I don't think it really makes UV mapping much easier. You still have to stitch together all the polygons unless you want to use the crappy UV generators. ZBrush has a built-in tool for UV generation, but that's meant for high-poly models and you normally do textures in ZBrush by painting directly onto the model. Believe me, I've been trying to find an unwrapping technique that doesn't make me want to swallow an icepick.
Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
author=catmittsauthor=Saileriusyeah same here! the only things i've realised that help with it are (a) automatic uv maps are generally awful and incomprehensible so its always better to take the time to CUTR SEAM or whatever the fuck manually and (b) if you set smaller sizes for the mapping then its much easier to mess around with, although i think thats what makes the one there look so blurry. give and take, you get what you deserve ~ big star..
I still haven't gotten the hang of UV mapping.
Yeah, I agree. Automatic maps are awful. I'm surprised they haven't come out with any utility software to make it easier. What software are you using to model?
Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
author=catmittsfirst ever crude textured lowpoly 3d model whoo. needs a lot of work but i feel like i know enough now to actually have fun experimenting with this stuff! the myspace angle is because an unexpected mapping error meant he had a duplicate set of eyes on his neck (which in retrospect is pretty neat too)
Looks better than my first shot at 3d modeling. I still haven't gotten the hang of UV mapping.
What's the new Featured Game?
I'd actually like to request that Vacant Sky not be considered until after the Complete Edition is finished. Thanks for the consideration, though.
I Hate RMVX
author=sbesterThat's why I prefer XP. I find that there's not a significant difference in functionality between XP/VX, but XP's visual style and mapping system is far more aesthetically pleasing to me (although that's just personal preference).
Back on topic...
If VX had better sprites I'd probably already be using it. It's ugly as hell, so I don't. Higher resolution is nice, but not when every game for VX looks exactly the same.
EDIT to reply to ninja-Versalia:
My question is what, exactly, are you trying to accomplish? Impressing other people who make games as a hobby? Good for you. Trying to make a commercially viable game that you can make money off of? Good luck to you.If I had to wager a guess, I'd say what he's trying to accomplish is to see people make better games. Making any reasonably complex system in an event-based engine will set you back a significant amount of time, time that could have been invested in other features or in finishing the game and starting on a new one.
On Name Changes and Pretentiousness
author=JosephSeraph
What if I had my own character named Amelia since I was, like, 8, and then decided to make a game with her? I wouldn't, for nothing in this world, change her name, because she'd be >my< Amelia. And If I find out a protagonist of a rather famous RM game is called Rose, I won't change her name, because I have *my* rose, I love *my* Rose, and I'm not going to let anybody change her name because there's another rose. One with brown hair and plastic clothes that sells opium in some sub-developed street of a bustling city or something. (i.e. just because there's another completely different character that goes by the same name.) imo.
imho.
I wasn't insisting the character's name should be changed. I meant to bring it to his attention in case it was something he wanted to avoid.
