Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home.

What do you think happened to me?

Why are a lot of us dicks?

I've always wondered how we've garnered that image :/

Are they from the people who got butthurt when their game got denied?

No, I'm talking about people who are hesitant to post their games here at all. I don't actively go out and try to recruit people with bad games.

also, i have tried investigating rrr a few times and my impressions are always that it is pretty bad and that cooperation with them would not be very profitable. but then i think about what my impression might be if i came to rmn's front page and saw 6 blockland screenshots and 'how to use vx dungeon generator' tutorial and try to stay my judgement a little further

To be fair, most RRR members think their own community sucks and make fun of it just as much as we do. I agree, though; their ratio of newbies to real developers is pretty unattractive when it comes to cooperating. I think there's promise in working with HBGames.org, though. We might consider starting a campaign to convince developers on other sites to post their games here, as well as seeking out reviewers (I know RRR has a usergroup dedicated to writing reviews; perhaps we could persuade them to post their reviews here as well?).

The issue that we might run into is that members exclusive to other groups seem intimidated by RMN. RMN has a reputation for being violently elitist and filled with trolls. I've tried to persuade developers from other sites to post up their games here for reviews and critique, but the common response is something to the tune of "My game isn't the kind of game they like, so they'll probably just troll me and make fun of it."

I think we should try to do something to improve our image. As someone who frequents all the major RM sites, I do believe that this is by leaps and bounds the best for developers (which, depending on your viewpoint, might speak volumes about the community as a whole). I'd like to see the place become a little less openly hostile. I agree that there's nothing wrong with screwing around and poking fun at people, but it's becoming more often than not mean-spirited and insulting. At the very least, this should be dissuaded on game profiles.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I'm trying out this Android RPG called Zenonia. The graphics are very pretty for an indie game but the music, gameplay, and especially the story leave a lot to be desired.

It plays like just about every Zelda clone and has an on-screen D-Pad with a single button for attacking and interacting.

Good evening, folks.

Hello and welcome!

Go ahead and make yourself at home. How are your project(s) coming along? If there's anything worth sharing, you should post it up on a profile.

Peace out brudda.

Vacant Sky Vol. 1: Contention

Thank you! I hope you enjoy the game. It gets much better once you get into Act II. Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions on improving it!

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I finally managed to snag a PSP for Christmas, so I'm pouring my life down the drain into P3P. I've also got Crisis Core, which I've heard mixed things about, but haven't really gotten a chance to check out yet.

hey now. nobody is saying "what is vacant sky." it's like spiderman. there are people who are saying "vacant sky savior of our gay internet wasteland" and then you have people like me who are j. jonah jameson. this is all detailed in my upcoming fanfic "how vacant sky made my wife miscarry" btw

I have bad news

The father of your wife's late unborn child was, in fact, Chronicles of a Dark Lord: Episode One: The Tides of Fate Version 5.0: Deluxe Edition

It was for the best

You'll have to pardon my skepticism, since both of the games you cited as examples to live up to both have laughably poor writing and gameplay..
I'm sory but being a fan of Legionwood I think referring to the games in that way is insulting to say the least. Have you even downloaded the game? Dark Gaia put a lot of time and effort into that game, and it IS superior to yours. I haven't tried that other game yet, but now that you just insulted that game too I think now I will. You're an elitist Sailerius, I thought maybe youd have some humility winning the Misaos but ragging on other people's games isn't going to earn you any points with pure players like me. I'm no developer or anything, I just play the games you guys make but you just lost a fan. Show some respect to other developers and maybe people will stop saying "what's Vacant Sky?"
I never insulted you, nor am I actively going out and insulting any other game (which is a popular trend nowadays). I never would have said anything, but you pointed those games out as being clearly superior without ever citing specific examples as to what made them so good in your opinion. What makes it superior? Please compare and contrast specific examples. I want to know which mechanics, songs, and elements of Vacant Sky's story you feel are inferior. What makes me an elitist? I'm replying to comments posted on my game's profile and trying to discern what it is that you dislike about it but you only mention vague generalities that anyone could make without ever playing the game.

Out of curiosity, if you're not a developer, why did you register on RMN? Not that I mind; I'm flattered that you enjoy my games enough to read every single comment posted on its profile and then register just to reply to one of them. I always enjoy talking to fans and it's disheartening to see that I've lost one over a response to a "review" written by someone who hasn't even played the game. Since you used to be such a fan of the series, it must be pretty clear to you that many of the comments posted earlier in the "review" don't apply and that the reviewer's failure to mention a single aspect of the game she disliked specifically was a clear sign that they hadn't even played it.

Sai
