SCALYTANK'S PROFILE

Greetings!

I'm Scalytank, a game developer from Hungary. I'm highly skilled procrastinator. I also try and work on some projects in libgdx when I find my inner strength for them :D I also like rpg and tactical games... (I may create one, in the distant future... or not...)

Footprints

I think the most efficient way is with scripts. I have made footprints via scripting before ( it was in ika, but I think it's no different for RPG maker)

My system was simple. Every entity on screen had an array of pictures (limited to 20), and on movement, they left one of the available (which alpha value is 0) picture on the ground, slowly fading out.

For one character, I think you can even event something like this. (I don't know if there is any way, to show pictures beneath the events, with eventing only...)

One more

Heeeello.

Why waste a page?
You've intrigued me. What do you mean by "waste?"

One event page should be 10-20 byte of hard disc space! Less download size. Really. :D

Eh.. Tilesets

I belive Sphere's editor has support for tiles in ANY dimensions. But I think you need to learn JavaScript, to use the engine.

Sad, but true...
Actually... I have seen a lot of people like you, DarthZannacross. I even know one personally.
I doubt, that there are any people around here, who doesn't have any game idea, have the time, and skill, and wish to work to someone, * or with someone, who tells them exactly what they should make. Unless you pay them. Or show them some of your work...

I would suggest, to forget this idea. At least forget about a game this big. If you don't have the time, you either need money, or a smaller crossover rpg project.

(I may be wrong, and one day some guy will pop up, and accompany you, but chances are low, and you should take this into consideration, before you leave. )

Umm... I am not sure what you want here, but why not use event pages? conditional branches? You talk about switches, and variables, so I assume, that you know how to control them.

If not, read this tutorial

Combat systems: Do's and Dont's & Opinions

It would only make the combat stale, if the player has only one skill, and that one has cooldown. But that's poor design. I would probably alt+f4 out from that game.

Is RPG maker the best game developing sofware? You Judge

Professional game developer?
Learn some scripting language, like JavaScript, Python, or Lua

http://rpgmaker.net/engines/ika/ -> Python based engine
http://rpgmaker.net/engines/sphere/ -> JavaScript based engine
https://love2d.org/ -> Lua based engine.

One advantage about these engines is the lack of default scripts. However, using the newer rpg maker engines, and learning Ruby is an option too.

Then, when you can do some good games with these engines, (not the default RPG maker game), Maybe a platformer, or puzzle game, you should learn Java, or C++, and use something like Slick2D, allegro, SDL, SFML.

By knowing C++, you have a good chance of becoming a professional game developer.

Best regards!

Like this :)

But maybe this would be too much style change, I don't know... but I would prefer the smoother one.
Anyways, the rest of the scene looks good :)
