Make your dungeon first, then make your town, then populate it with NPCs that inform you about your dungeon or items you will need. Make the town explorable and make the NPCs quirky.

I downloaded and tried the current version again on a PC that doesn't have RPG Maker VX, there wasn't a crash. Have you tried starting a new game from scratch?

What version of Windows. I don't think this is my problem. Its some bigger problem. Have you tried other RPG Maker VX games?

Locking a screen to stay still in RPGM VX

Is there a way to keep a screen still so the player actor can move around, but the screen doesn't? Other than making the screen only 17x13.
