I thank you for playing it far enough to care. I've been back in the forum after taking some time off for a few years. If people want things added, I do add them for the most part.
The simple way to accomplish it is just to opt out of making 4 characters. In other secret games I've done in the past, now I just have a place where you can gather or dump party members, so if you wanted to do 1 at a time, you could, but if suddenly you say want 4 party members, then you're not restricted. Or if you want 4 and then suddenly want 1 that is optional.
Currently, I am on a trip and the game files are on a home PC until Monday. It should be easy to do.
There is no intelligent game design here, i think that I made this game over 3 weeks or 3 months. Something quick like that. Plus I love giving the player freedom of choice. That has always been my motif. Why lock a player into something when you can present them with a variety of things to play with. I know myself I don't like playing as a thief, but someone out there likes it. And playing with 1 character is really a player choice that I had neglected in Epiquest.

I made a Flash version of RPG maker for my own insidious uses.

junk
Anyone think the original poster will return? Or is it just like I said... spam. Lots of 0 posters with advertising lately.
Unreal Engine and CryEngine are now cheaper than RPG Maker
A lot of pro software has started to move over to a per month basis. Adobe comes to mind. With the Adobe shit it makes sense to pay $20 per month when they come out with new software every year. Why keep buying a copy and an upgrade for $500+ when you only need to pay $240 per year?
junk
All talk, no play
That's why I wrote a little pep talk of a how to make your first game telling people 1 town, 1 dungeon. That's all you need. Then say its done.
Dragon Fin Soup - Tactical Roguelike RPG
Sadly not retro or SNES. Its modernized fake retro that is quite popular. I'm not sure SNES games had that sort of menu either. Typical dungeon crawlers do. It is a gorgeous game, but it is still an ad.

That was indeed the big issue I had with Battle of Olympus. If they had consistency in grinding, or removed grind altogether, it would have been a far better game.
Still, snake grinding aside, I enjoyed the game when it first came out.
Its weird, as a kid I remember the grinding. 2 specific situations including the salamanders. But when I played it a few years ago, I didn't feel there was grinding at least like I remembered.
