How's this then?
The wooden thing between the houses at the top is a stage.
The thing at the bottom is a ditch indeed. I guess it kinda stood out being in the middle of nowhere without anything around it so I added some trees around it.

My first attempt at a town ever, I think.
I guess I haven't ever needed a town before.

Miserere Review

I'm honored you think it's better than the original, seeing as this is something of a fangame. There are faults with it though, and some of those parts is what I wanted to improve in Miserere, such as the large looping areas with no sense of where to go and the randomness of the puzzles (aka effect spamming).

Always nice with a review. Glad you feel it's the best dream explorer you've played (including Yume Nikki?).
I've thought about touching up some of the parts you mentioned several times but there is just so much other stuff I want to do I fear it is never going to actually happen.
Anyway, thanks for the review, Miserere haven't got that many (compared to other featured games) and it's always nice to hear another more in-depth opinion.

VX Ace can produce exactly the same thing, if you wanted to. That's a fact.
That 2k3 would somehow automatically be prettier is not.
Actually it's possible to make prettier (read: closer to reality) sprites in VX Ace due to the higher resolution of the sprites, 16x16 vs 32x32.

I got complaints about the background. First of all it's friggin ugly and looks like one of those word pictures from old word cliparts. There are also white bltos and stuff all over the edges.
What I would do is add some color to it, maybe even sprite it into a wood/gold medallion or whatever it is supposed to look like. Also make sure those white blots is fixed.
It's super boring as it is now, readable text or not.

Going to have to agree. I don't see anything good about translating your game to Japanese when you can't speak it yourself. I would rather play a game in english than broken language X. I know that Japanese people generally can't speak english, but I'm sure there are other ways to get players than targeting Japanese. Why are you so desperate to get Japanese players specifically?

Wasn't aware you had the game up here, that's neat. Anyway, this is personal prefererence but I think an improvement would be making some of the earlier areas a bit easier to navigate.
