How to a create a new stat in addition to HP and SP (XP)

It's funny actually...I've been Google searching stuff for this much of the afternoon and never once thought to type in "extra stat script." Found something in about six seconds...brilliant.

That being the case, I'm wondering if you might have some idea to modify the (hidden) script below to closer suit my needs...

I want to add the "AP" stat to my characters, which I can do. That said, the script I found was already designed to add three new stats and my attempts at taking those out have thus far yielded naught but error messages.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Person 3 Portable, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Skyrim whenever a free moment allows for it.

How to a create a new stat in addition to HP and SP (XP)

Howdy all.

I've been dabbling in scripting a bit (and am terrible at it, lol) and I was wondering if there was a way to create a new stat in addition to HP and SP that you could then use in battle?

Going back to old school length RPGs

Back when I was in high school and even in college I had time laying around to play and beat multiple 100+ hour RPGs. Nowadays though... I work multiple jobs just to make my bills and usually have maybe at beat three or four hours of guaranteed gaming each week. I imagine that even this won't be the case soon; my wife and I are having a baby in July.

Shorter games are nice for those of us who like video games but also don't want to feel like we're never going to reach the title screen. And while I would agree that many modern games take their brevity too far, the counterpoint could be that many older games were too long. I can think of a few classic JRPGs that might have benefited from some time at the editor's desk.

Under-Rated Games People Should Play

Is that game underrated? I've heard nothing but good things.

Underexposed might be the better description. It was critically lauded but next to no one played it.

I would say the Dark Spire. It got mediocre reviews but I love the thing and consider it in many ways to be the DS's Demon's Souls.

Bad games you love any ways.

Hi all!

It's a common trend among a lot of gamers to basically ignore games that don't receive sterling review scores. That being the case, I'm sure most gamers, especially those who grew up before the internet, have played and loved games with less than perfect pedigrees. I was wondering if anyone had any that stood out in their minds and why they love them despite their flaws.

A few of mine:

Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo (PS2)

Around the time that Toonami started playing Gundam Wing I developed an obsession with all things Mobile Suit Gundam. Journey to Jaburo was the first Gundam game I picked up and back then when I first played it, the game was utter catharsis. I found a copy again recently (for a whopping $3.50) and was amazed to see how clunky and stiff the game really was. Even so, I had a lot of nostalgic fun and could probably still pop the sucker in today and have fun.

Starcraft 64 (N64)

Holy Odin did I love this game. Prior to Starcraft 64 my only RTS game was Command and Conquer (again, the N64 port) and I played the single player campaign to death. This game, I think, is a really interesting example of enjoying something inside of a vacuum. PC gamers laughed at the idea of the game on the N64 and not without reason. The N64 controller worked but was in no way comparable to the mouse and keyboard standard. That said, the only magazine I read back then was Nintendo Power and only owned an N64 at the time, so I ate the game up. So many hours put into this one.

Black Sigil: Blade of the Exile (DS)

A lot of people downright hated this game. Jeremy Parish over at 1up gave it a D, panning it as nothing more than a failed Chrono Trigger clone. I was a little more generous. I had the opportunity to review it for GamesRadar and gave it a 7/10. It has some definite flaws; the encounter rate is too high and the combat speed is too slow (an unfortunate combination). That said, combat itself is actually interesting, the game's pixel art and music perfectly replicate SNES RPGs and the story is pretty well written with some really likeable characters.

I suppose I'll have to make do then! :)

Psh...semantics good man! And I take deep offense at the implication (albeit crossed off) that I am a troll!

I have been on these forums mooching free advice and technical assistance whilst giving nothing substantial back myself for months, and I have never trolled! :)

How bout we trade? You loan me your scripter for a bit and I'll go to art school, graduate, and help you with your project!

Looking for someone to help make a battle system script (XP) (Paid Work!)

Hi all. I've posted about this before and I wanted to give it another go since the resources for my project are accumulating and I really want a custom battle system moving forward.

The description for the battle system is below, if there's anyone who thinks they could do it I'd be appreciative and willing to compensate financially for the work. It's out of pocket so I think I could do maybe $50, tops.

Anywho, here's a description of my battle system:

When a battle starts you have three bars: Stamina Points, Armor Points and Health Points.

When an attacked you'll first take damage to Stamina Points. When they're gone enemy attacks will damage your armor points, and once the armor points are gone, then and only then will you take damage to your hit points.

At the same time, using special attacks will also drain your stamina points.

The idea is to simulate an actual fight whereas you would first expend physical stamina (SP)blocking and dodging incoming attacks. Then when you became tired or if any enemy blows made it through you'd rely on your armor (AP). The last thing you'd want to do of course would be to allow the enemy to cause you bodily harm (HP).

My hope is that in tying special moves and basic survival together that battle will become as balancing act of maintaining your defenses while spending the points needed to assail and defeat your enemies.

I would also like enemy states to behave in an identical way.

If anyone thinks they can do it, leave a reply or PM me!
