You see not a bird but an American lady who likes other ladies. Oscillates between shy as a mouse and babbling violently, seemingly at random.
I like badasses. I like babes. I like badass babes the best. Okay...actually I like doggoes the very best, but I aspire to make games about badass babes is my point.
I use music from bands and artists in the free games I make: the frustrated filmmaker in me is very enamored of scoring scenes with rock'n'roll soundtracks Scorcese or Tarantino style. In addition to being a time honored tradition in cinema, this has a history in AAA videoogames as well (for a really great use of it, see Bioshock: Infinite). If I was a millionaire, I'd totally license these songs so I could actually use them legally.

Goaling It 2020
This is a good thread. As a rule I don't go in for New Year's resolutions, just cause I make (and fail) resolutions on the daily and on a weekly and monthly basis. Also usually those resolutions are all the same resolution which isn't a particularly good one: starving artist HARDER until you are miraculously making a living wage from what you do. I mean, putting aside whether or not it's terrible advice, "do what you're already doing only harder and with less realistic expectations" is a crap resolution.
General
1. Take better care of my dog. My issues, which he's trained to support me with, often result in his being neglected which sucks for him. I need to rack up more days when I'm so depressed I feel like I can't move but take care of him as well as he deserves, anyway.
2. Achieve some measure of financial stability but that doesn't really count as a goal so much as a survival requirement.
3. Ditto with taking better care of my physical and mental health and being more diligent about maintaining doctor's appts and such.
4. Be more mindful of interpersonal relationships and drug use.
5. Go on a date with an actual person? serious, silly, or otherwise.
6. Keep my damn mouth shut instead, if I find myself about to let loose on some kind of anticapitalist, antiauthoritarian, pro-socialist rant, online. Opinions don't make people friends.

1. Make games hosted on itch.io be income somehow.
2. Tackle the terror that is Steam also in the name of making money from MM.
3. Play more RPG Maker games. There are a ton of good games on this site. I should be able to cut out several of the many hours a week I spend playing old (or at least non-new) commercial games
4. Review some of those games!
5. Generally try to show more of an interest in people's work besides my own, while also somehow transubstantiating my own work into money.
Oh, and I don't know if any of our users are Ukrainian or Estonian (no offense if you are) but Scotland I'd think is a much better travel destination.

dang, I hope you appreciate what an awesomely intimidating collection of talent y'all are. I'm scared to show my work here
Momeka I'm mostly convinced isn't actually a human being.
scity The game looks kind of like some sort of undertale type thing which isn't really my bag but I think that color combination really really pops. Although, that said, isn't the appeal of slimes their diversity, that they can come in so many colors/flavors?
orange- I have two questions about those screenshots:
1) Is Ghoul like a full-fledged character/party member or is he a necromancy based pet/summon? My gut says the latter but you never know.
2) can I have a review copy for free please i swear i am a games journalism
*spends five actual minutes looking at Darken's scarf physics animations while stoned*
anyway here's my thing *runs away*

[Poll] When Do High School/College Finals Happen for you? For Use in Future Events and Jams
about 12 years ago?
also, who the fuck has finals in March??? Is that an overseas thing? I've never heard of that anywhere before on the North American continent.
wait... "high school"...is a non-trivial portion of our userbase really in high school????

Thanx for the info! (You are very well informed.)
That's still incredibly impressive and it's still really weird that I didn't hear of a man who's had such a huge indirect impact on my entireadult life until 20 years after I started using his software tool to create countless games.

And yeah, don´t be too hard on yourself. I think would be great if you can learn from this experience and make it better next time.

Failure is it's own opportunity for growth and learning. Even if you've fallen flat on your face, you're still moving in the right direction: forward.
I should point out and I am not complaining about this or suggesting it be changed, JUST pointing it out that per Liberty's word, I am banned from future Secret Santa events. I don't get a next time. Which for the record I think is fair.
(I mean, as a general statement about perseverance, I fully agree with what Marrend said.)

Hahaha you´re welcome Crow!! I´m really glad you liked the weirdness of Beatrix riding an enormous fish on christmas under the moon (or from? who knows). That was so random, I had a lot of fun drawing her too.
It's possible, although it would have to be quarantined or segregated from the otherwise exceptionally dark and serious tone of the rest of the game. But...

Your Game Dev Identity/Signature
My game design signature is some combination of:
And of course, in my free projects, the liberal unapologetic use of modern/"pop" music, usually rock & roll, by actual bands (a few of which you might even have heard of, although I'd wager not usually), with actual lyrics, in my games.
My game design IDENTITY is too expansive and in-depth a topic to get into right now--not just mine, game design identity in general. Although the fact that I openly value writing over other aspects of the craft is probably the most evident part of it.
* These elements have not been emphasized in any of my completed or released projects nearly as much as I would like, but definitely will be prominent in the game I'm currently working on. While all strong and independent in their own way, it occurs to me now that all the ladies in my cancelled megaprojekt Road To Paradise were straight, except for Watanabe who I think is probably asexual (but could potentially be talked into having sex with anyone or anything "FOR SCIENCE"), and Lydia who is a death goddess and I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea to ask a death goddess what her sexual preference is. Chapelwaite had basically an all male cast, because that's what the source material had (in hindsight there is the potential for ho-yay between Charles & Cal I could have played up if I was striving for maximum gay). And in When You Were Young I never thought about the sexual preferences of the kids because they're well, kids, although in my mind Ralph and Ulrika were straight.
- pixellated ultraviolence
- strong female agonists* (pro, ant, or deuter)
- rampant lesbianism usually involving the above*
- gratuitous dogs & drug references

You know the guy in the video is speaking Spanish, right?
Considering I SPEAK spanish I really freaking should have, but no. I failed. All I heard was them speaking "foreign" the first time around, and the second time around I was like "hmm, that doesn't sound like Japanese" but in my defense it is extra hard to recognize a language when the speakers are laughing uncontrollably.
I admit in general I was pretty gullible here. It was just that a) that video is like the only result when you get when you Google him in english (the kanji tip is a good one, Avee, although at the time I didn't have his name in kanji, just english) and b)...to be honest, like, as a meme video it worked really well because everything being said in the video is what I've kind of always thought (or feared?) the makers of RPG Maker think about us.
I also thought that he looked Hispanic but I've seen Japanese men with similar skin tone and features. I'm going to edit my OP and then swoop back around to edit this post.

Yoji Ojima is the creator of RPG Maker. He does not own KADOKAWA. That video is just a parody based on a meme. And yes, he's a solo programmer.
Edit: the creator of RPG Maker period? Like going all the way back to
Nessy, I feel like you're the closest of anyone to being in a position of being able to answer, since you're the grand high poobah of RPG Maker web and I'd imagine part of that job involves liaising with the Japanese community and Kadokawa/Degica itself. If I'm hearing you right and this guy is the creator of RPG Maker, he is
EDIT: actually, when you consider that w/o his software I would never have played A Blurred Line, Hero's Realm, Iron Gaia, Sunset Over Imdahl, The Way, Three The Hard Way, etc. etc. ad nauseum we can go ahead and get rid of the "probably".
1) Why on God's green Earth is this the very first time I'm hearing the man's name?
2) Does he interact with the community ever? English-speaking or otherwise.

So the other day I was trying to figure out exactly how Kadokawa/Degica Games/Enterbrain want to be credited because I was throwing together a WIP credits .txt for Malleus Maleficarum and in virtually every area I have to (or at least, should and will) credit them and I didn't want to be writing out something as unwieldy as
Kadokawa Corp/Degica Games/Enterbrain
five times in my credits.
None of this is particularly interesting but it IS context for how I learned what very little I know about Yoji Ojima and I'm wondering if y'all can help me learn more or find this anywhere near as interesting as I do. I will probably mirror this thread on the "official" rpg maker webzone because I think they might know better there.
So, anyway, the Degica Games website attributes RPG Maker MV to the following:
"© 2015 KADOKAWA CORPORATION./YOJI OJIMA"
Yoji Ojima, I thought, where have I seen that name before? It feels weird seeing it listed next to Kadokawa. I didn't realize this until this year but Kadokawa corp is actually pretty huge. I checked out a few new anime series this year I really liked and a couple of them were produced by Kadokawa.
On my own, I managed to work out where I'd seen the name before. He's the creator of the (generally pretty solid) "community basic" plugins that come with the current(ish) version of MV. So this is some guy that worked on the code base for MV, clearly, but did he like...MAKE RPG Maker MV essentially BY HIMSELF? That's what the Copyright Kadokawa/Yoji Ojima seemed to imply. Either that or he Intrigued, I plugged his name into the google machine.
AND GOT A HILARIOUS MEME VIDEO THAT TOTALLY FOOLED ME
Is Yoji Ojima just A programmer who worked on RPG Maker MV? Is he THE ONE GUY that made RPG Maker MV? What was his involvement with earlier engines? ...did this guy make or at least code every single RPG Maker release? Is one man responsible for the entire RPG Maker phenomenon that has defined my life to a certain degree? Seriously, would my entire life have been radically different if not for this ONE JAPANESE MAN whose name I did not learn until I had been using his software for like two decades? Is that what's up?
I burn with curiosity.
* Enterbrain--as far as I can tell--did not have anything to do with MV or VX Ace and honestly might have ceased being the publisher for RPG Maker or even ceased to exist much earlier than that, I think XP might be the last time I can kind of sort of remember seeing the Enterbrain/ASCII logo on RPG Maker stuff.

Secret Santa 2019 (Sign-up)
I very much enjoyed the art that I got (AXE COP NIGHT MISSION!) from AkariThePeanut featuring coelocanth and Beatrix in a Santa Costume. It is like wonderful fan-art from a better universe where a game exists for it to be fan-art of...some inconceivably weird brilliant shizz about an enormous bottom dwelling Christmas fish and angry sexy lady Santa. I want to make this game but...I also still really want to make a feature length version of Phantom Queen from last year so...clearly I'm gonna take my time.
Thank you Akari! (Oh my goodness, is that the moon? Are we launching from some kind of moonbase? This is delightful.)
I apologize again for my own failure. Everyone that managed to get a gift in is a superhero.
