Sad news
Gonna keep this simple. I lost my dad over the weekend, and it's been a tough week to say the least. I'm taking a brief hiatus from game dev, and I'm just going to need some time to process everything. I'll be back again soon, but in the mean time, thank you for your support. See you all soon.

There will be no blog post tomorrow unfortunately, despite the release schedule I had. Please see user statuses for more information.
Baldur's Gate 3 lets you frick a bear... no, I'm not making this up. How is this allowed?
Bears are people too.
Literally, I mean. It's a term for a certain type of person. That's surely what you meant, right?

Welcome back to RMN, twitter nerds
This is literally the only social media I have. No Facebook, no Instagram, none of that garbage. RMN all the way. Unless you count discord, but even then, I'm only on discord for RMN.

Thrall Demo Re-Vamped! (Ha, get it? Like "Vampires"?)
I made a slight adjustment rolling back one of the changes made, specifically regarding the prologue. I decided to keep it the way it was before, making only the introductory cutscene skippable instead of the entire prologue. There were a couple of reasons behind this, but mainly it just wasn't necessary any more with all the other changes that have been made. Enemies drop loot a lot less, so the prologue takes a lot less time and is overall less tedious. It's also more interesting now that enemies can have elemental weapons. And finally, it's a great way to determine how difficult the game is before fighting the first boss, and allowing the player to adjust the difficulty from the settings if need be beforehand.
While I did roll back that one change, I added another one to offset it. A tutorial that explains why the Knife in the Storage chest has a unique name and red text. Yes, that's supposed to be there. Yes, it has a special effect. It's an introduction to unique weapons and armors.
Anyway, that's all that's changed. Hope you all enjoy!

Demo Version 0.4 is now available! I made a ton of changes with this release, so check out the blog post for more information! And if you've tried this game before and found it too frustrating, maybe give it another shake. A lot of the mechanics that frustrated most players have been significantly adjusted to make for a much smoother gameplay experience.
Trust me, a lot of those changes were NOT easy to figure out. There were a lot of times in the last month where I was sitting at my computer thinking "How the hell am I going to do that?" But, well, see for yourself! The updated demo is available now.
Please let me know if you encounter any game-breaking bugs, and I'll make an effort to patch them as soon as possible. Thanks for playing! Happy looting!

Looking for a short, easy rpg with a lot of really good dialogue to feel passionate about.
Ooh, a chance to gush over Villnoire again. Great game, about 12 hours long, shorter if you skip some of the optional content, awesome story and characters, great dialogue. The combat is pretty simple, only two elements to worry about, and it's not overly difficult. There are some simple dungeon puzzles, but nothing crazy difficult or frustrating, and I think only one of them is kind of time sensitive, but there are rest points throughout it. Probably my favorite story based RPG on this site.

What makes a good puzzle?
I would refer you to the channel GMTK. There's a great video on this exact subject.
Essentially this video says anything I would say, but in my opinion a good puzzle is one that keeps things simple, has a clear objective, subverts player assumptions, and has a solution that gives the player a sort of "aha" moment
