THEDIGITALMONK'S PROFILE

I have a fairy in a cage next to my computer. I feed it peanuts and Diet Dr Pepper. When I want ideas, I beat it with a wooden paddle.

I pretty much only do music for games now. I have good ideas for story or gameplay every now and then, but I'm not good enough to make it happen. If you see me as the developer of a group game, you can rest assured that I'm doing the music and really just acting as a sounding board for the other developers.

WIP music...

also, don't be afraid to start fresh with your songs. Some people (I used to be like this) tend to fuss over one song and continually try to "fix it" but the best way to get better is just to keep creating new things. For example, I've been working on an original OST recently and I'm just starting to learn how to use electronic music. So far, I've completed 1 track and am almost done with the second. How many electronic songs have I composed inbetween there? Maybe 5-10.

Also, whenever I play piano, the thing I do more than anything else is improvise. Just keep making new new new things. It's the same with any art. Sculptors (when they're learning at least) don't create one piece and then think "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............." They just keep going and create, create, create.

Looking forward to hearing what you've got coming though!

Gameplay is the only thing that matters

I think a lot of people are missing the fact that there's more than one way that a game can be good.

Mario is good.
Metal Gear is good.

They're both a COMPLETELY different kind of good. One of them is extremely story intensive (with mgs4 being almost half cutscenes) and one of them has a worn out cliche story that is completely irrelevant to the game itself.

The spectrum of good games is not 1 dimensional.

I would also like to suggest that we abbreviate it "BBQ" instead of "BQ".

Umm... Where's #rpgmaker.net on mIRC????

WARNING: Noob Question Alert:

what's mIRC? Is there an RMN chatroom?

So a talented artist is planning on immortalizing a scene from FFVII into a comic. Check it out!

500 bucks sounds crazy reasonable to me.

However, as FF7 is a good game but a poor story, I have no real interest in this.

Ah, finally someone who understands

Gameplay is the only thing that matters

The most important aspect of a game (story/gameplay/graphics) is whatever the game maker decides to emphasize. There are games that bank on gameplay, others bank on graphics, and others bank on story... or possibly a combination of all 3 (which are usually the best).

Someone who thinks that gameplay is the be all end all of a game probably doesn't play many story heavy games.

What is your current weight, and where do you want to be later on?

I weigh 120 lb. and I hope to be 200, but that'll likely never happen. ;_;

Because someone's stopping you? Your body's shape is up to you, it's just harder/easier for certain personalities and bodies' natural tendencies.

As for me I'm like... 140? I'm fine with it too. I guess a muscular 150 would be ideal.

Now imagine for a second if there were 5-10 nominees. These would be chosen by either a preliminary popular vote, or by whatever means WIP deems reasonable. I would be able to play ALL 5-10 nominees and then make a confident choice as to what I think the best game of the year is.
ok so they have to play every RM game that was ever released in the last year? People are barely able to play through release somethings.

I think you're accidentally agreeing with me.

"No RTP music!" would be one more good hell of a rule. O.O Because those midis are damn annoying and have extremely poor quality.
