The Perfect Debate

oh, by the sound of desperation in your capsvoice it seemed like you lost.

The Perfect Debate

Do you always rage this much when you lose a debate? ;)

mods; lock this topic, i can't resist, oh and ban me for obvious reasons

The Perfect Debate

UHHHH DINOSAURS ARE EXTINCT. Well, on the subject of dinosaurs. Is the DB world an alternate timeline where dinosaurs never became extinct? or were they resurrected a la Jurassic Park?

My point is that you are making deductions of the DB world based on things from our world and our science, but clearly the DB world is full of magic, things from the past(dinosaurs), and things from the possible future(flying cars). Your hiding behind the fact that everything is explained by science, but the science of DB is clearly not the same. They fit houses into tiny capsules.

The Perfect Debate

Your avoiding the question though, where does the anime or manga describe the physical properties of the moon? You just said that all your facts are supported by the show.

The show also has dinosaurs and flying cars, it's not based on normal science.

Retro Quest

Original Gameboy games were green, not black and white. Only in the Gameboy Color could you see black/white graphics.

So, being "nostalgic" now means "free pass to be as lazy as fucking possible?"

It's always meant that.

This is so wrong. If this is the basis of your game making no wonder it's met with such distain.

Green & white/Black & White still pretty much the samething: 2 colours.
The original gameboy had 4 shades of green, there was no white.

The Perfect Debate

...i just cant resist.

Where does the anime/manga say anything about the size of the moon and how far away it is? From what you said that idea was formed through a chain of reasoning based on the rabbit on the moon.

When Bulma(or was it someone else?..) is underwater they have some kind of tiny device in their mouth that allows them to breathe underwater with no large oxygen tank. It seems like they have some crazy breathing-technology. Maybe they changed the atmosphere on the moon to include oxygen with that technology? The show doesn't say that's not the case, it must be true.

What do you want to see on the frontpage?

i still think Latest Games to Play would work better on the Games page. it'd make the Games page a lot less intimidating to look through for a more casual viewer who's not looking for anything in particular, rather than being set up for someone who knows generally what they're looking for. it'd also add some punch and variety to the Games page, which right now just looks like a boring list with a search function.

The only problem I see with that is a person would have to click on Games to get to see Latest Games. A person who comes to the site looking for games will find it because they have to go Games in the first place. Success. (Plus if someone comes to the site they will see Latest Games first, and then go to Games if they don't find something good, so I don't see how moving Latest Games will really change anything in that respect)

However, I don't come to the site to look for games but I always see the Latest Games. Sometimes I will see a new game that looks cool and it gets my attention so I end up playing the game(or subscribing) even if I never intended on that.

It's that type of publicity that is very helpful for everyone, whether you made a great game or not. Latest Games showcases games on a level playing feild, as opposed to a hidden gem(or similar) section which is giving more publicity to games that are probably getting it already(because we all saw their release in Latest Games)

Also, it just fits in with the theme of the main page. Latest Posts, Latest Blogs, Latest Screens, Latest Reviews, Latest Article, THE Latest.

Instant transmission has nothing to do with speed. It is literally teleportation. literally there is no reason to believe that every antagonist in the show after cell kept up with goku using a technique only he could conceivably know because he learned it in the far reaches of spaces, especially since none of them are ever shown doing the instant transmission signature pose.

Metal Cooler used it. Therefore it's not so impossible to conceive that others would know it. If goku can teleport and others can't then how could they possibly ever keep up with him? Maybe they are faster even though they have equal powers, and that's how they keep up? hmm.. and I don't think the pose is required to do the move.

No.

But of course.

Oh, yeah, okay. the reason macduff was able to beat macbeth is totally vague and mysterious and open to interpretation. no. shut up.

We're talking about dbz, not macbeth.

Boss Rabbit has two human followers who also live with him on the moon.

k

So your entire argument boils down to "the writers are fallible." I guess perhaps silver-age superman isn't as great as they say

My argument boils down to....you suck donkey balls :D All your rebuttals boil down to "no. shut up"
I never implied they were fallible. I'm just saying there are aspects of the DB they didn't give details for. So anything YOU describe outside of what is in the show is fabricated, no matter how solid the reasoning behind it.

Anyways, this is going nowhere fast. You managed to turn the perfect debate into the perfect pile of shit with your attitude towards the person you are "debating" with. I'm gonna go talk with a different brick wall for a while.

Ways to improve the community/maintain its awesomeness.

Pointing something out that's wrong is the definition of being insulting.
Oh my, well let's check with the judges on that:

Wikipedia - An insult (also called a putdown) is an expression, statement (or sometimes behavior) which is considered degrading and offensive.

Webster's Dictionary - to treat with insolence, indignity, or contempt : also : to affect offensively or damagingly <that insults the reader's intelligence>

It's also the definition of being helpful.
Judges?

Wikipedia - In social psychology, the everyday concept of helpfulness is really technically defined as (1) the property of providing useful assistance, and (2) friendliness evidenced by a kindly and helpful disposition .

Webster's - of service or assistance : useful <helpful advice>

Insulting and helpful are exactly the same thing.

You were saying?

If someone gives you opinions or advice, then you are better off for it. Period. It will make you a better game designer, which is the one thing that matters.

This is correct. This statement doesn't take into account positive/negative words. This is the main idea, we should be giving opinions and advice. Feedback.

Ok, so now if you see a screenshot of a weapon store with an NPC standing alone in the middle you have a few ways of going about providing feedback.

Positive: "It's a good start but you should include some additional objects to fill out the room"
Neutral: "Needs more objects."
Negative: "This looks like shit, it's nothing but empty space. How many stores that you go to just have one guy in the whole building? Put some boxs or something dumbass"

(hahahaha, I'm just laughing at myself)

They all let the person know the problem but which one do think is going to be better received by the developer?

What you fail to understand is that not everybody is strong willed. You say we go through life learning that confidence comes from within and "stick and stones...". We also go through life with bullies and images of what "perfection" should be in the media. Do you really think that every kid has an equal amount of support and positive reinforcement? WTF are all those emo's complaining about then?? So many people come from broken homes, abusive/neglecting parents, they go through life being made fun of how they look and how they act.

We're not all robots, indeed.

Also, I cannot possibly disagree more with the idea that giving feedback is optional. If you have no intention of helping other people, get the hell out of the community, and don't come back. We don't need you leeching off of everyone else's goodwill without providing anything at all in return.

Goodwill leeching? Does that mean if someone comments on your stuff then you should comment on theirs? That's not exactly what it means to be part of the community. You can be part of the community by discussing website design and helping with events while never giving a single piece of advice to another developer. I don't think people are commenting just to get comments in return.
