What do you want to see on the frontpage?

Latest Games to Play should stay.

It's pretty much the only time I see new games. I rarely go into the Games section and browse for something. I did that once and already downloaded everything that got my interest. Since I log into the site everyday that section allows me to see every single game that gets released. Nothing will ever sneak by. That's the only way I learn about new games now. I don't go into games and search by last updated because I have a real-time gauge for that on the front page.

Not to mention the attention your game will get. Every time I release a demo and it's in Latest Games I see lots of traffic. As soon as it drops off, so does the traffic :/ It's a great way for everybody to share in the free publicity, not just the games some of us feel should get more attention (hidden gems, or "well made games"). Isn't that why we have subscriptions? If a game is good people will remember it or subscribe to it.

I don't really have many suggestions for new things. I think the layout is perfect. It's simple, compact, and easy to navigate while showing new and important information. Change isn't always good. Anybody see the new MySpace?

The only thing I would like to see changed is that in the Latest Posts section we don't see posts from any topic in the "Moronic" section or the dump. It should be limited to game pages and legitimate topics.

Fairy Forest

I started looking for a game to review and this one seems like a good choice. It's short! :P Just my type. Downloading now.

Phalath Review

The pictures don't add anything. Especially the ones where you show gameplay. In the one where you complain about the collision the monster is in the adjacent square to the hero, what's the problem?. Besides, if there is a problem with hit detection who's fault is that? Obviously the creator of this game.

This isn't a great review though. It's like a Corfaisus review with lamer jokes. You don't suggest what should have been done and you pick small mistakes or typos in order to setup your "jokes".

When you describe the story, typing it out would have THE SAME EXACT effect as showing screens of it. It's a black screen with words and this would be a white screen with words. Also, the story says "they joined with goblins" and you say "wait, so now they are goblins". Your deduction skills are unmatched, good sir

I had a complaint about the sword before I even used it, and it was the fact the Fuzzy Muffin had the length of 1.5 cms

Fuzzy Muffin? ....such a legitimate complaint too. Makes sense that the first weapon would be small.

You bash him for a nonsensical sentence:
...... There's so much wrong with this one text box that I'm not even going to list the 200 plus things wrong with it and let you guys figure it out for yourselves.

And follow it up with this gem:
To me the GAMEPLAY is like the Statue of liberty. We need a hand to hold that torch, even though in this case the story was the torch and it lit the statue on fire, but will the statue be able to handle it?

Must be a dimensional bump, get it? No? Screw you! That joke was funny.

You guessed it right. Nobody gets your jokes.

*so uh, be more informative. it's a review, not stand-up comedy. also just put images in hide tags

Are savestates cheating?

It is cheating, but people cheat at everything in life. It's human nature.

It's pretty harmless to cheat in this way. For some games it allows you to actually make it to the end and fully enjoy all the content. Otherwise you would have given up. It's kind of like illegal downloads. If you don't have the means to buy that CD or Wii game, then you at least get a chance to experience it. Although that can be a harmful way of cheating.

How's your Christmas so far?

My opinion is based on many factors that only pertain to me. All of my family lives on the same street ha so family gatherings aren't as special as most people. I didn't accept any gifts and I don't openly bash christmas like a scrooge would. I just ignore it. If you enjoy Christmas then you shouldn't feel threatened by my opinion, that's all it is 'my opinion'. Oh and christmas music really pisses me off. Jesus isn't real. It didn't even snow within the last 3 weeks. Christmas is just a glorified Thanksgiving. hahaha

Somebody talk me into/out of this

Pokemon was a game first, no? Most people just think of the anime and associates everything childish from the anime to the game. The concept of the game is actually very cool. With good graphics and a more mature storyline it would have reached a lot more people. Plus, at the time it was revolutionary. It's easy to forget what times were like back then. So there is nothing wrong with making pokemon games. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean you should try and talk people out of making them.

As far as custom graphics, just start doing it. If you enjoy it then keep going, but if you get "bored" or if frustration makes you want to quit, then quit. If you never try then you'll never know, nobody else can determine that for you ^.^ Getting an opinion never hurts but don't put too much weight on what others have to say about this. I started doing small edits and found it to be very fun. I never set out to make custom graphics, I had a need in my game for which a graphic didn't exist so I created it. Then I started major edits and even created new items. I never sit down and draw sprites for 2 hours, i work on small bits here and there. I always find a way to make something work, but then again I've always been good at learning from just copying other peoples work. The challenge of it, the feeling of accomplishment afterwards, and the overall feeling that your efforts will make your game better...that's why I do it. Also, some people are just not cut out for that sort of things. That's what teamwork is for. Too many of us try and complete a game on our own when each aspect of a good game requires much practice and knowledge.

This thread got out of hand and isn't very helpful to Hali. It's a good topic to talk about but in the wrong place. It's sad to see people resort to personal attacks to try and "win". *sigh* We can preach about being a strong community but as soon as someone comes in a negative opinion the insults come raining down hard. Discussion is healthy, bickering is not. If you have to make personal attacks to defend your values then you have already lost.

It seems most discussions around here end up getting personal fast(this one isn't so bad), as soon as one person does it the other has to retailiate and it's reduced to an episode of Yo Momma. I guess that's what happens when so many strong personalities are locked in a room and told to play nice.

How's your Christmas so far?

I told nobody to get me gifts

same here. Christmas has lost all its value for me. its a shallow commercial farce. its just one day, an excuse for people to give presents and feel that they are good people when they spend the other 364 days being selfish, mostly. parents plunging themselves into further debt to put on the "santa" show for the kids, plus with kids today the last thing they need is to be spoiled even more. just think of how many bad presents are given and then thrown away? cutting down millions of trees..all that wrapping paper and misc items....what a waste of resources too.

when you show respect and give all year around what is the point of this day?

I don't go around shitting on everybody's good time though, if you want to celebrate it then go ahead. have the family over, il smile for your pictures.

You can apply toggle mode to alternate layers to make them appear or disappear accordingly .

haha is he talking about the toggle function in the editor?

The "toggle entries" button does nothing for me. Seems like a pointless function anyways

The Perfect Debate

Your getting pretty scientific about these fictitious worlds.

Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon did not take six seconds to reach the moon when he blew it up.

This would be a useful fact if the writer of the series did calculations to figure out how long it should take for the blast to reach the moon. He probably wrote in the storyboard "Piccolo blows up the moon" and the animator's just drew it a certain length to fit in time restraints of an episode. Your just making stuff up and basing an argument on it.

You say "speed scales with power level in the DB universe" but how do you know the formula? Your just assuming that it's a 1:1 ratio of speed:power. How do you know that speed doesn't max out at some point? Maybe at 1,000,000 you can't make your body go any faster but your blasts will generate more destructive force beyond 1mil BP.

How can anybody seriously argue about this when facts can be fabricated out of thin air? It's just a battle of who can create the right facts to win. For more serious debate choose a more tangible subject. We're only beginner debaters and not an "expert" like you.

also, your pretty arrogant dude o.O only you can be right.

Need a Writer?

Cool :)

You should update your first post, just so people know when you are/aren't looking for new projects.
