Super Desmo Bros. Review

Based on the screenshots alone. I don't need to play this game.

That's unfair. Those are the exceptions, not the average. There are many good levels, just a few bad ones.

Actually, I'm more like Captain Lazy. I didn't do my research, sorry about that.

I won't go into everything you mentioned, as most of it is directed towards Sailerius(*edit:and he already posted). I wasn't intending to get into a battle with you.

The filesize probably didn't factor into the review score and yes, the font thing was his fault(but raises a good point about the creator telling the player about it). He stated he doesn't have experience with 2k3. The filesize wasn't that big actually and was probably just a suggestion. It is pretty easy to exclude the RTP in 2k3.

'random encounters every 2-3 steps and mashing enter '
'I found I was making less money from battles than I needed to purchase healing items to replenish the HP/MP I spent in the fight.'
'Not only can you not escape from battles, you also can't use items in battle!'

These were the main points I got from gameplay, which sounds horribly unbalanced as opposed to challenging/old school. If you can't item heal in battle, then you would have to have a spell (or autoheal after battle). If you only find spells that means you don't start off with a way to heal in battle. That's a bad idea and I never played a gb/nes RPG with those problems.

I can't really speak on the other points, I'd have to see/hear the game. Which I might now just to see what it's like.

I don't feel that a review score has to be a sum of all parts, because in some cases each section can be relatively low and still the game could get a decent score. Or the opposite, like here, where the score is lower than the sum.

I don't really see this as biased. Your defending of this game could be considered biased. Maybe?

About your review, why don't you just copy the text of your review, delete it, then paste it in a new review and give it some stars. Now that there are other reviews with stars, the name of your review won't trump seeing a low score on the game page.

Great Purge II

Original Block Land

...too easy

Looking at screen shots, why does each corner of land have a big square? Didn't you realize that looks like crap? Or is that supposed to be some kind of 'block' effect of 'block land'?

From the sounds of it the balance of battles sucks.

Tell me what sucks about the dialogue in Final Fantasy Legends 3?

Points for graphics include mapping, which is said to be poor.

someone's gonna say it: write your own review.

I'm a big fan of old gameboy games, especially the gb FF series. I own the cartridge for Legends 3 and Adventure and beat them several times, as recent as a year ago. I play emulators more than any new console/PC games. But if a game has crappy fights/poor maps/lame dialogue there is no way I'm going to enjoy it (even though that 'nostalgic' feel is there)

Nostalgic does not mean shitty, I hate when people say that :( I can only guess they are referring to a small section of games that have some pieces of bad dialogue and apply that to all games of that time period. I just don't understand that logic.

It's not much different than a prejudice to RTP graphics. A prejudice to RTP is similar to a prejudice to FF6 gfx, whereas a prejudice to rips is like a prejudice to graphics all together.

Then if it's not RTP and it's not rips that only leaves custom. We shouldn't expect custom graphics just to give a good score in that department.

However, I agree that the mere presence of rips shouldn't be the issue. Only if they are used bad. I never played this so I dunno.

The Perfect Debate

Your insults are spectacular and only boost your point of view..

What's canon is that in the dialogue it says "faster than light". I doubt they said that to allow for all these speculations calculations. Its just a flashy thing to say, and it makes us understand the power of what they do by relating it to a speed we are familar with. The series is clearly filled with inconsistencies that can be "rationalized" to fit a persons argument.

What this means is: The special beam cannon is faster than light. Not only this, but Raditz is faster than this FTL energy beam. And since speed scales with power level in the DB universe, we can conclude that, during the Frieza Saga, Super Saiyan Goku, with a power level of 150,000,000 vs Raditz's 1200, Goku is at least 125,000 times faster than a FTL ray. And this is well before the end of DBZ.

By saying that goku is at least 125,000 times faster, based on the numbers you used, you are implying that it is at least a ratio of 1:1. Why not 250,000 times faster (2:1). Now as for "speed", in the beginning of the series speed is purely muscle power. So yes, as power increases so does speed. But at some point it's possible that even with more power they can only propel their bodies so fast, a terminal velocity. The way that they become even faster is with a different method of movement all together, Instantaneous Transmission. Maybe this technique means they tap into some unknown dimension or some kind of source of power that is unknown(dark matter?). Goku's opponents could all know this technique that's how they keep up in speed. And the lower guys who are strong but just didnt learn this technique can't keep up.

Just like our universe, even though we can see what happens to something in space we don't really know why it happens when you get down to the basics. We simply theorize and maybe we're wrong. Maybe your wrong?

The biggest problem I have with you is that you refuse to believe that your speculation, reasoning, and theories could possibly be wrong. You fight tooth and claw, to the death, using insults, to get us to change our minds. Or at least that's how it appears to me. If this were a non-fictional debate this wouldn't be an issue because most things in real life have tons of facts and research to back them up. Although even some non-fictional facts are subject to interpretation.

We must first accept that the moon of the dragonball universe is as least as large as our Mars; There is clearly a kind of atmosphere there, and it is even breathable to Boss Rabbit.

So because a giant humanoid rabbit is able to breathe on the moon, we are to assume the difference is in the moon?

This is what I mean by making things up. Unless the writer/creator of the series says what the reasoning is, anything we deduce may not be right. Who's to say what's right?

I mean, if there are humanoid rabbits then is it so hard to believe that they are alien and perhaps don't need oxygen, or any element, to breathe? Perhaps they create their own oxygen internally. Why does the moon have to have a different atmosphere and not the rabbit have a different physiology.

It could go either way, and if you start basing calculations on this one fact and it turns out to be wrong, then everything you calculated is wrong.

This is because the writer/creator did not create a complicated system of new physics. They just wrote shit for the sake of writing shit. It doesn't have to follow our laws of gravity and science and maybe they're explanation for things is that "it doesn't follow laws as we know them".

So any "fact" that is created by a fan using our real-world laws that was not stated officially in the show, or later by the author, is made up.

DBZ cannot be rationalized.

Fuck It Review

You just have to evaluate what you know about making games.

We all love playing games but just having played games all our lives doesn't mean we will produce something good ourselves. You have to really study the art. Understand every aspect of what's in a game and what it is about other games that make it good.

You have to be a writer. You have to make dialogue feel real, make the characters have personalities and keep things consistent.

You have to have a good eye for design and high attention for detail.

You have to be creative, which is hard because so many things have been done already. Plus creativity is not an easy thing to learn. You have to have something unique to stand out among the waves of amateur games if you expect everyone to find it appealing.

Just because a few people don't like it doesn't mean everyone will feel the same way. Just look at the current featured game. Most people on here will be looking at games like a critic. They compare your game to a high standard of professionalism. Very few games actually meet these standards so I wouldn't feel too bad.

You also have to have a passion to want to improve yourself. If your going to give up then perhaps that's what you were missing all along...

Ways to improve the community/maintain its awesomeness.

But if the game is a piece of garbage, then they should know. They should know that it's not just that I didn't like it. They need to know everything that's bad about it so that they can fix it as well as possible.

If they're so upset by this that they don't fix the problems, then I don't really consider it a loss. If I hadn't pointed out the problems, they wouldn't have fixed them anyway. If they can't handle learning that their game has severe problems without having a breakdown, then they're not cut out for creating things and should find a non-creative hobby or get counseling.

In short, just say exactly what you mean. Giving inaccurate feedback helps no one.

That's kind of an elitist view of things. "if your not as good as I am at taking hurtful negative criticism than you don't deserve to be part of this community". Your saying anyone who is hurt by mean things isn't worth 2 cents. Some people here are just kids(relative, around 15-16 yrs), some are bullied in real life or maybe they're just a person to take things personal. You don't know the person on the other end. Some of us pour our heart and soul into game making and often times if you only know your own work, you think it's great. Having someone berate you on all that hard work can be devastating. As a community we should be helping each other grow with positive feedback and reinforcement, not negative comments and insults.

Just be nice. (it's a recurring theme!)

You can point out all the things wrong with their game without being insulting. That's the whole point. If something is terrible it can always be put forth in a positive constructive way. If you want to provide feedback, be positive about(or at least neutral) or don't say anything at all. It's not part of your duties to provide feedback in the first place. If you provide feedback you are doing so by choice, and you also have the choice of how to present it. Being part of a community means supporting the community, not trying to bring it down.

Also, if we just accept the "lol it's the internet" frame of mind we can never move past it. But that's a bigger problem ^.^;
