I made a short video of the intro of my game. Feedback?
I think this is pretty terrible. You are aiming way too hard for YE OLDE EPIC INTRO. There is nothing engaging about it, because it opens with the cliche "mysterious monologue" and the audience is lost before you draw them in. The rainstorm effects are really fantastic, but your pacing is s o s l o w. There is a point where an elipsis is very slowly drawn into the dialogue box for literally 10 seconds and no actual words come out of the character's mouth. 10 seconds is too long to have nothing but "...." on your screen. Try some "emotion bubble" animations instead, and definitely speed up the intro. I understand the need for that 'cinematic' build-up feeling but this is way too slow. When I jumped 2 minutes into the video and it was still just very slow-paced meaningless dialogue between almost-identical hooded sprites, I almost facepalmed.

author=Thiamorauthor=VersaliaWhat matters is others like it. 1 dislike to the other 2 to 3 likes, means they did pretty good.
Far_Oz, I would actually call that a bad use of rips. Despite the maps looking FANTASTIC, they also look almost exactly like the areas those chipsets are ripped from in their respective games. Tsk tsk no no.
I wasn't aware that the quality of a game and its content is a democracy. I better hope I get 2 out of 3 approving comments on all of my work or I may as well delete it and start over
I don't hate people who use things from other games or franchises.Neither do I. I just expect them to make it look original instead of literally copied directly from the game. So, again, a big fat DISLIKE to using tilesets exactly how they were used in the original. I feel like Queen Zeal is about to bust out of that second map

thanks shining!! I'll definitely clean it up or use it as a reference. I didn't realize that Angelica wasn't nearly pale enough until I went back and looked at Elizabeth, Theodore and Margaret ;)
Hustle and bustle, scripting in trouble
1) The game crashes if you press the shift key to look at enemy data and you haven't used the scan skill at least once.
Please post some more specific information about what the error message is. I have a lot of suspicions about what is causing this, but I can't confirm anything. Basically it's trying to display the scan information, but you haven't scanned the enemy, so there isn't any, and it chokes. You must have done this with an edit, because my YEZ Enemy Scan doesn't have this issue ... Although, I might have had a similar problem and fixed it myself already.
The game crashes when any enemies have a skill that consumes rage.
I don't think Rage existed when the YEZ scripts came out. I can tell you for certain that it's probably trying to draw the "rage cost" and has no idea how to do that. Try finding "draw_rage" or something from another script, and put it into YEZ Enemy Scan, so it knows how to draw a rage cost. Again, though, please post a SPECIFIC error message.

You mean like this? (This was made in rush...)
By the way, don't the assistants have whitish hair and yellow eyes?
Actually, that's very close! But my static is much lighter than that. :)
And yes, you're right. They're light-blonde with gold eyes. I just need to edit the sprite's eyes. Angelica has white-blonde hair and golden eyes.

author=Deacon BatistaThe windowskin is killing me. Bright-ass red blood dripping down over some orange and blue text? Argh. Everything else is charming enough.
The light is nice, but the door looks weird with the wall...
New screen from me:
author=MiracleElegant! My only advice would be to increase the transparency of the light effect slightly, or smudge the edges with an eraser, to get rid of the "hard" diagonal lines coming out from the side of the window; it's also a few pixels too high (light is shining out from above the window). RE: lacking shadowing on the table - when I'm doing a light effect, I usually use the "eraser smudge" trick on top of items that should have some shading. You don't need to add shading, you just need to 'remove lighting' ... if that makes sense.
Never used lighting effects before! Tried to make some kind of rich glitzy subway cabin. Off from law school (Hahvard) and into a Firm :> (no Phoenix Wright bro)
author=ShortStaryou are completely incapable of taking any kind of criticism. I see this exact same comment from you all the time. "Well I did that and somebody else didn't like it so whatever." wah wah wah wah wah why are you still on RMN
I tried that a few times but people just wondered well why's that tree dead? I said for variety then got argued with... so whatever. :-)
author=Mr.Nemoif you edit my sprite poses I'll mak your gam
then again, i spend all my time on this project editing spriteposes and such (same as always that is) instead of mak gam :(

Forgettable people
I think you meant "forgetful," but I agree that anybody who can't remember their own damage formulas is probably forgettable themselves.
Your points are valid though, for one simple direct quote: the average user.

Versalia, convenience. Not everyone wants to open the Script Editor for everything. :)
Open it ONE time, write your script snippet, use <damage: type> tag without ever opening the script editor again. This is a pretty weak argument. It's like saying you shouldn't have to open the database for everything. They're just the front and back of the exact same interface.
I think the problem is people don't want to open the Script Editor for ANYTHING.
