Enhanced Battle Commands

One other thing, Flora will last three battle turns, represented by three sprouts. Each turn, one will disappear. If Spar is hit with a magic spell, all three or however many sprouts remain will disappear. Just gives the player a visual representation of how long the skill lasts.
that is ADORABLE.

The point brought up about Protect being specific to a selected target makes a lot of sense, though. It should be noted, though, that Rand can inflict his "Protecting" state on more than one ally at a time since it lasts for more than just one battle turn. If he's leading the party in a defensive formation, for example, he can basically take all physical hits by using three turns to select his allies. I do agree, though, it'd be simpler and more efficient if he just protected the party from the next physical attack. I will definitely bring that one up.
A+ to all of this

Since we're on the subject of making these new commands more efficient without being broken... I would assume it'd be better if Flora were able to be applied to another party member instead of just being applied to Spar? I will also suggest this.
I discussed this with someone last night, actually. It might be better if it stayed self-applied but blocked the next incoming magical damage of any kind (basically, same as-is, but includes AoE). Otherwise, you could literally spend Spar's turns setting up flat-out magical blocks on your party. Let's say a boss does this as his purely random attack sequence:
Physical attack
Special physical attack
Single-target magic
Single-target magic
Physical attack
Spar's first two turns could have already been spent setting up Flora on half your party, and the next few rounds can easily be spent re-applying it to anybody who got hit - and if neither of your Flora'd allies was hit, you're using it on the remaining two, which gives your entire party a spellnull. I realize the sacrifice is that Spar is doing absolutely nothing else, but spending turns to basically flat-out null spell damage in this way is pretty OP, since that also negates his need to use any of his healing abilities...

Yayyy! These are awesome!
... Except for
Why not make it stat-based? It could be wayyy more successful when Katt is at low HP, for example. That also synergizes with her Taunt.
Additionally, Protect seems underpowered. It assumes that not only are you blocking a physical attack and not a magical one, but that it's directed at <specific other ally>. I realize formations will change the "aggro weight" of the members in it based on frontrow positioning etc, but perhaps this should be improved. If Rand is to be using it as a damage soak, he should either block the next physical attack directed at ANY ally, ALL hits directed at <specific other ally>, or leave the skill as-is but add "... and takes X% less damage from it."

When an enemy is selected, Katt has roughly a40% chance to cause that enemy to miss their turn60% chance to waste her turn

haha Always so defensive, you are. Didn't think I needed to be a mod to attempt to steer the conversation in a more positive direction. Beg your pardon, sir.
Pardon granted. BEGRUDGINGLY
Thanks. And yeah, it's still a cluster of buildings because that's what a town is :) It's like having a mini-map sitting on the overworld. Plus it's different and that's cool, right?
Gold star for different, definitely. It shows that you put thought into how to differentiate the small details.
I'll try to add a pixel of shadow under it. That might help. It was a spur of the moment idea so I glazed over it.
Try to mimic the other stuff on the map - see how your buildings all have a hard black outline around all three/four sides of the buildings, but everything on the worldmap only has a hard black line on its right side? Do that.

atlas
yes
but thank god you're a forum mod to keep everybody in line or else this thread would totally derail
I recently decided to do a bit of work on this game. You can see the entire layout of the town on the world map, no 1 tile little bundle of houses to represent it.
Not that anything would be wrong with that. You just deemed overworld graphics to be an area that deserved more attention than others. So now it's a 4-tile bundle of houses instead of 1-tile right? But... that's still just a little cluster of buildings to represent it. You just made the cluster... more representational.
edit: your representational cluster lacks the shading and color depth that even the rest of the .. monochromatic screenshot has. Add more colors

real map
I know right

if only there was any example of a commercial game that didn't use 'real maps'

and didn't involve exploring the specific locations, only the puzzles and fights involved in moving between them

yet still put forth a bare minimum of visual presentation

Quoting things three times definitely makes them more valid and true. : )
Quoting you against yourself is actually kind of like rubbing a dog's nose in it more than trying to reinforce my own point.

After all, we're at a point where both sides have clearly established their viewpoints here in public forum.
I quite agree. Cheers dahlings

I really feel that this is an acceptable, unbiased assessment of the situation. I certainly went as far as I could to make Versalia's opinion sound appealing, trying hard not to make it sound like a straw man argument. I think these are my final comments, explaining my understanding of the situation.
Other people did this too and you dismissed the comments as entirely wrong without needing to attempt to explain why. Don't act so fair and unbiased when you are clearly on your own side and nobody else's. I like how you entirely ignored emmych's very eloquent and thoughtful post about analyzing yourself and your projects in favor of arguing about arguing.
By the way, that's not at all how I feel, merely your interpretation of the situation.
I appreciate that but I really think that's not the essence of what I said at all.
