Deciding between engines

Thought about making a game with no standard battle system. The entire game consists of dungeon puzzles and evented boss mini games.
So I'm probably just mapping and eventing the whole game with almost no scripts.
Just some questions about XP
*Can xp use vx ace resources? I found several parallax tiles and thought about using them.
*Can XP event just as much as Ace?
*How is the engine lagging differences between xp and ace?
*And lastly, are there any issues xp has with current computer software?

Luck stat effecting amount of recovery

Using VX ACE. I want to make guard recover mp. Any ideas how to make the luck stat effect how much mp you recover?

Well, the random dungeons are a major part of the plot. The first game hints at the cause of them and in the second game everyone decides to try and save the world from becoming more randomly distorted.
The alchemy system hasn't fully acquired a role in the plot yet.
There is a blacksmith in the party, so it my be good to have him upgrade equipment.
