Yes, yes, it's very funny when you ... annoy Liberty by making weird game profiles ...

Back to the drawing board to find new ways to annoy Liberty. :)

Can the new RPG2003 RTP run the older games?

author=Sated
People who don't include the RTP with their game (or use a workdaround so that it isn't required) are really short-sighted IMO.

Especially now that RM has become more than a niche market in some hidden forum somewhere. RM2K and 2K3 is especially important to include the RTP, now, due to the differences between the illegal / legal versions of the RTP.

FF7 remake. It's a thing.

Personally, I'm on the fence about it. On the one side, I like the episode formats of games like Asura's Wrath and Alan Wake, especially when there is the "previously" recap. And I imagine it could work with rpg's, as well. But I also understand the curiosity and fear-mongering from those who played the game, know the story, and may get put off by a remake that breaks the story up even further.

But... it could also be that SE isn't planning to charge for every episode. Perhaps they will eventually release it as one bundle, but rather than make everybody wait for its full completion (which could be years away), they figured the die-hard fans who want something now will pay a fraction of the cost for something that equates to the first disc.

It really is up in the air, because if they go the episode route:

1. Will people have to buy part 1 to be able to buy and play part 2 and so forth.
2. Will saves carry over.
3. Will there be a full bundle at the end of it all for those who want to wait?

I'm just happy they're finally remaking this, not so much because I care for it, although at one point I did, but more or less so that people quit screaming about it and SE can finally move on with something else.

i am depressed
i hope they release a story mode with no battles

I'm surprised this hasn't become a thing yet. I love video games, but I seldom have time to play very many, and quite often I settle on a well done game edited Youtube edition, which I find more entertaining than many of the Hollywood films I watch.

Why game companies haven't made movie-like edits to some of their titles and sell them is beyond me; since I'm sure there's a market for people who would like to watch the story, even if they aren't into playing them. It'd be a great way to recoup some profit amongst those who would rather watch a film-like version at a portion of what the full game would cost.

The official English 2k3 version is out!

Is there even a reason that RM2K is not included in the RMW store? I mean, they tell us buying directly from their site helps their bottom dollar, and prefer people visit them over Steam, but when you can't get the updates you need or a product they're selling without going through Steam, that creates a large disconnect between them and their customers.

Otherwise, a lot of people still have questions about the plug-ins for 2K3 (which ones can be used, will more be allowed, will there be future updates) that haven't been addressed.

I won't justify other people's rants over what's legal or not. Yes, it was only released here recently, and before that wasn't available. And yes, plenty of good games came out as a result of the illegal versions. But it may have been better had the illegal versions never been released at all since it's created such a huge diversion; the downside being, the popularity of it would not have been there and the legal versions probably wouldn't have come out.

However, I feel that more people will feel stronger about supporting the legal versions of 2K3 and 2K if they feel they are being valued as customers, which also includes addressing their concerns and questions instead of ignoring them.

Is Hero's Realm worth remaking commercially?

Not sure what happened, meant to edit my last post and it doubled by mistake.

I was going to add, if HR succeeds commercially, then perchance you'll have the time and resources to give us Generica 3. :)

Is Hero's Realm worth remaking commercially?

The only possible thought (if you're looking for suggestions) may be to offer the player to choose the order they wish to play the initial 4 chapters.

Otherwise, I agree with Craze. Perhaps by PS4 standards, some may consider it generic, but in the wake of all the retro games that have started being re-released, I'd say this one is closer to the top.

It has a rather nice DQ 4 like feel to it, which I think a lot of people can easily relate to, considering the popularity of DQ 4.

Is Hero's Realm worth remaking commercially?

If you make it for iOS or Android, you may have a chance. It seems touch screen types are picking up on the retro games, which is why many of the earlier Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles have been re-released.

Personally, I think HR is a much better game (with it's various chapters and elements of gameplay) than many of what I see currently on those devices.

But even if it were released for a portal like Steam, I'm sure many of us here would support it.

Oh yeah, I'd also look into any legal ramifications of making a game with copyright infringing material, making a name for yourself, and then trying to go commercial without the offending material but with the same game brand? I'm not sure if it's a thing but I've seen shit with patents* and I think it'd be worth getting a professional opinion on the matter.

* software patents are a perpetual shitshow so it might be irrelevant anyways
That...is actually a very good question. Technically, I don't think it's a thing in law, but I could definitely see a company possibly causing trouble over it. I don't think they'd get anywhere, but even just taking pointless legal action can do a lot of damage, so I'm researching this.

Honestly, the most I'd think would happen is they require you to take down the original game, which would kind of suck, but not a big deal if we can buy the remake.

Thoughts on RPG Maker MV?

One thing I've really liked is the music for MV, probably the best I've seen in forever, at least from what I've heard on YT. I have purchased MV yet, but I'm thinking of doing it just for the audio alone.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached the Top Floor!

Best of luck with this.
