[RM2K3] What do you like best about 2k3?

I love both 2K and 2K3. VXA does have its charm, but 2K/3 just feels a bit more retro, for the retro lover in me, plus a person can learn a lot just from the events without having to resort to scripts. What y ou can learn to do yourself through events can easily be carried over from one maker to the next. What you learn from a script in XP and up isn't as easily portable. Quite often you'll either need to remake the script yourself for the next installment or request and wait for one to be made.

MiniGame Prizes vs Overall RPG Difficulty

I'd say the harder it is to win at the casino, the more the player is expecting a pretty cool reward. Whenever I play a DQ game and work the casinos, I do so because of a weapon or piece of armor that I want and will make the game feel less of a grindfest and allow me to breeze through it more easily.

I understand not wanting to completely break the game's difficulty, but I feel that a lot of people won't bother with a mini game if the rewards are something cosmetic and doesn't enhance the actual game play in any way, especially if that mini game is costing them both time and money.

[UNPAID] Looking for composer to work on some music on a semi-commercial game.

The problem isn't so much the hope of getting something for nothing. If people are willing, go for it. But you may be hard-pressed finding somebody who is willing to do it for free and maintain good quality while also doing it quick enough.

What m4uesviecr and I are pointing out is that there are a lot of people who already have made free music to use for commercial purposes. I don't know about Kevin Macleod - I thought his was royalty free meaning you pay a fee but then can keep using it for whatever commercial purposes you request without paying anything further. But Aaron Krogh has a huge amount of songs you can use, free for commercial use. Scythuz may also have free commercial use. Eric Matyas asks for a donation (of your choosing, I believe) but otherwise free to use commercially.

These people give to the community without asking for anything back, and that's phenomenal. However, a lot of these same people have also already succeeded in their trade that to give up some tracks doesn't hurt their bottom line, and even grants them publicity and advertisement for further services; or they're just doing what they love and not trying to profit from it. Most, however, are making music on the fly, whatever they want and whenever they want, and giving it to everybody, without being tied down to a specific project or request or making customized music that will only ever be used in one project. Some do open shops and take single requests, but if you decide you need a full soundtrack made for your own game, whether or not you plan to be the only ones to ever use the music, it limits their time and resources.

That's not to say you won't find somebody willing to do it, but it may be hard. And if they're not being paid, there's no sense of urgency for them to fulfill the request in a timely manner.

Now, if you find you can't find somebody that will do this for you, and the free choices mentioned above don't work, there's still cheap alternatives between Members+ (Quigon and Scythuz's work alone is enough music for several games), and the store (I'd recommend J Stewarts aka Jonnie91, Joel Steudler, and Gyrowolf). Some are a bit expensive but still far cheaper than paying for customized music, but most are under $10 per album.

Wild Wings 2

A shame you haven't received more comments. I just finished the first game and will be doing a review hopefully in the next few days. Hopefully this post will show you that there are people who do want you to continue and finish the sequel.

Hero's Realm U coming 2016

April Fools is over already. It's like my daughter (who's 5). She's been trying to do April Fools jokes since mid March.

Is the WiiU really that bad?

The only problem with the WiiU is that everyone looked at it and went "Durr, gonna be lame", and then third party devs became horrified of developing for a "dead system", meaning there are a lot less people willing to develop for it.

...That, and the fact that since it's not as powerful as the PS4 and Xbone, third party devs can't get away with just porting their games to it. They have to actually deliberately create new games for it. And since they're all convinced it's a "dead" system, they don't.

This is why I think Nintendo should open up and cater more to the indie crowd. Now's the perfect time, while Sony and MS beat it out of each other to the death. People are clamoring for a return to classic styles, and if the games that get GL'ed on Steam are any indication, the market is definitely there.

How many times do I read how rpg's are no longer turn-based, go back to the roots, etc? Nintendo would be a great platform for RPG Maker games. I don't think we need remakes or remasters of the classics - just keep releasing them via the VC; but seeing as how people still love retro gaming, 2D rpg's, side scrollers and shooters, the indie crowd could really give Nintendo a boost.

Police shoots man in the back

The fact that the victim was black shouldn't matter, but unfortunately it probably does. Hopefully a hate charge can be applied as well. But regardless of the race, any cop who would do such a thing should be charged.

Unfortunately, incidents like this blur the line of legit police force and makes it harder for an honest cop to make the right decision for fear of being subjected to hate, scorn, and persecution. I'm glad this guy has been charged, but I wonder if the outcome of the trial will be just as good. If more wrongful police shootings would be charged, tried, and convicted, we may have less bias when it comes to the real cops who are honestly trying to serve and protect the public.

But if this guy gets off with a slap on the wrist, expect Ferguson ten times over, the likes of which may not have been felt since the Rodney King fiasco.

That's exactly what it comes down to. It isn't the fact that the police are murdering people: there are murderers everywhere, and anyone can become one. The issue, what all the bullshit is about, what is really going to tear this nation apart if something doesn't change, is the fact that there are no consequences for cops breaking the law. The simple fact of the matter is, police are above the law, and if that doesn't change this going to get a whole lot worse.

Unfortunately, this applies to government as a whole. A lot of politicians, lawyers, police, and even prosecutors feel they are above the law. Even in cases of wrongful and deliberate accusations, there is no accountability. Look at how many times a convict has been cleared (after a long prison stay) because it was proven the evidence was tampered with, and yet nobody goes after those responsible.

Selling myself as a scene eventer and story writer!

Something I've seen other eventers do is create demo projects of various events in place. If you're looking to provide people with ideas and events, that could be one approach.

[UNPAID] Looking for composer to work on some music on a semi-commercial game.

So just to clarify, you want somebody to compose for you for free, with the understanding that you may decide to use the music commercially down the road?

There's plenty of composers who have already given their stuff for commercial use (without expectation of compensation) such as Aaron Krogh, but you may be a bit hard-pressed finding somebody who is willing to compose specifically for your game (knowing you plan to profit off a future game using that music) but not offering any sort of compensation in return.
