Dison also has an ability that halves an enemy's health. It works on most bosses. That should really help you if those long fights wear you down.

May Update - New Battle UI with animations!

Battle animations will also now play on the HUD, instead of nothing at all like in the demo:

Ooh, excellent. The lack of attack animations is something that's always bothered me in first-person RPGs.

HELLBOUND

The mechanics could stand to be clearer in this. I have very little idea what the status effects do, especially "rocking out". It seems to give a chance to resist magic?

Let the Graphical Overhaul Commence!

This looks nice. The eyes in particular are much better; the eyes in the old portraits looked a bit too anime, if that makes sense. Very flat colors and cartoonish eye shapes. I also like that the heads are bigger. The only thing I would object to is Mia's Breast Plate, since it looks aberrant next to Amalie's more normal armor.

I agree that Aeyr looks pretty insane, and I think it's because his eyes are so wide. The irises don't reach the edges like they do for the other characters and in his older portrait -- opening your eyes that wide requires a lot of strain and is very unnatural, so when someone has it as their default expression they look unhinged.

On Amalie looking less sad -- I think it's because her eyebrow is moved further up, so it might be overlooked if you're just looking at the eye.

Luxaren Allure

Mmh, I was okay with this for a while but I have to say I had to put it down after the "there's only one bed" scene with Merel and Chisa. That was majorly screwed up and uncomfortable.

Stats, Stories, and Accessibility

The stats of every character have been revamped to fit more into their personalities.

This pleases me immensely. It always bothers me when developers don't bother to integrate gameplay and story. The mechanics should make logical sense with what we're told of the story, you know? It's always jarring when we're expected to see story and gameplay as existing in two separate worlds.

Using the magic attack stat for certain physical moves also sounds like a good idea.

I never played the demo so I don't really know what the rest of this is about, but this is convincing me I should keep tabs on the game instead of waiting to play the finished product.

Yeah, I do think a lot of gamers associate black roofs with underground/interior maps. I can't help but subconsciously see this shot as depicting a subterranean village.
