Starseed: Blood Machine Review

comment=28370
Karsuman's review and his post above is not an opinion, it's an attack. Both are as biased as they get. I'm not at all surprised that Legion's so pissed and defends his game and his own person so vehemently.

I saw that "other" review too and agree in DE's assessment of the situation. Unlike Fallen-Griever who was willing to listen to reason and reconsider what he had written, these two are examples of what not to do when writing a review, IMHO. That's why I restrict myself to writing reviews to those I feel merit it. Since this was a short demo, I provided feedback and did the comparison instead. Also, I have read in the forums that some people won't play other people's game because they have issues with the developers. Unfortunately, this was not the case here (we might have been off that way!). I don't believe saying a game has potential is good enough to make up for the mean-spirited nature of what and how it was written.

There is a simple rule golden I hope all of you guys learned in kindergarten or some point in your lives and know how to apply:

"If you do not have anything good to say, do not say anything at all!"

That doesn't mean that I want to restrict what you write, but at least try to be thoughtful about what and how you say it. There's is a difference between constructive and destructive criticism.

@Karsuman - I've read your so-called review, you had posted it and probably accepted yourself, then you had it removed. Am I supposed to ignore that review and your attitude simply because you removed it from the site? Am I supposed to "unread it" or something? Legion had the opportunity to read it, as did lots of other people. How is it not relevant, even if it's no longer accessible?

I don't know if this was the case (regarding the unposting), but shouldn't be there be a rule (ethical code) against staff (or however is in charge of accepting reviews here) being able to approve their own submitted reviews. The jury or judge than the parties involved.

@Solitayre: Silviera:

How did Edchuy know what any of that gibberish meant then? He just played the game, he had no prior inside knowledge of it?

I didn't figure to be as famous as I have become here. Unlike what you expect of many of the game players here, just because I had no knowledge of the gibberish, doesn't mean I would be able to figure it out on my own. I am pretty sure as there are many players that play without thinking, who really just care about fighting and beating the boss, etc.

Which brings up the final point I will make: I don't think any of the reviewers for this game (Fallen-Griever included) really got how to play it to advance successfully. Whether it was whether they're crappy players and didn't (or care to) try hard enough, at least I'll give props out to F-G at least for trying to find out what he missed to be able to play it successfully. So I do question their game playing skills. This is my assessment as a hardcore RMN gameplayer. All the other issues I'll leave to you developers to figure out.

Canceled is a continuum, not a binary state.

I think, for now, the best thing for you to do is to dedicate your effort to some of your other projects. Regardless of what you decide to do in the end, know that at least there is a fan of the game.

I will write a review for EpiQuest, hopefully to submit in the next few days.

I believe I have tried most of the important stuff related to EpiQuest, although I'll wait for confirmation from ShortStar before starting to think about writing a review. In the meantime, I'll continue to play Faith.

Starseed: Blood Machine

I'm sorry to hear, but if it's true that it's been cancelled, that'll be a first of anything I gave feedback for RS! X. I thought that developers where supposed to encourage each other, rather than the opposite. A sad day indeed!

Epiquest - the videos

What, no sound? They seem to be good basic, but quick runs of what you need to do to get started. It's good that you showed Seary and Ladi getting recruited in the second video.

I have never used the "Optimize" option while playing your game nor in any other RMVX games. Although, the few times I have tried it, it seems to do a better job than the "Auto-Battle" option in some RM2k3 games.

Epiquest - the videos

I have no idea how you do it, but there's a way for you to get a "Videos" tab, somewhere in between "Images" and "Downloads". I'll check them out.

TO ARMS DEVBLOG #4: Class Re-Pre-Views, Kickin' Tunes, New Skills, And More

I look forward to the first chapter. It's good you are aiming for it to be complete. I'll be honored to volunteer to test it, if you call on me!

Have fun playing my game. =D
And you do a lot of reviews... =O

Thanks, I hope so! I'll consider doing a review if I think your game deserves it. Otherwise, I'll provide some feedback.

edchuy is unstoppable

You don't do too poorly yourself! So did anybody here other than the beta testers finish your Eden Legacy game? I personally will wait for your deluxe edition. Not because of the B & W (that's as old school as you'll get!), but because of the extra stuff it'll have!
