3d. Menstruation (I kid you not, it is a battle mechanic)
This still cracks me up. Why not find a better reason for a female character to be kicking all kinds of ass aside from "she's on her period"?

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot. You established that it makes them useless while in effect. Silly me.

jfc that's the most sexist thing i've heard all day

you do realize people who get periods still go about their daily lives while on their periods, right? like, this is what tampons and pads and painkillers are for? and that some people don't even get that much pain or bleeding?

like ffs grow up, dude. what a stupid mechanic.

I would caution anyone before adding such topics to their game to make really, really, really sure you know what you're doing before you add it.

Because you probably don't.

i am literally bowled over every day by all the shit i don't know. the sooner we all accept our similarities to jon snow (at least insofar as knowing things goes) will be a wonderful frabjous day

Controversial Topics In Your Game

i think all of the characters in my game have parents that are still alive. that's pretty taboo for rpgs

shitposting aside: really the best way to approach sensitive topics is to do your homework. if you touch on a topic that's "controversial" (i hate that word augh) and you haven't researched it, it will show and your game will be ruined utterly.

i'm not hyperbolizing. you will literally 100000% ruin your game by lazily invoking racism or rape or mental illness or trying to talk about the trials of having the gay.

even if you have lived experience in a thing, do homework anyway. i am a queer lady and i know i still pack around a lot of internalized misogyny and queerphobia. if i can't write queer characters and women without doing homework and self-reflecting, someone who isn't queer and/or isn't a woman sure as hell won't be able to.

basically research research research. do not trust what you think you know about these things: cross reference stuff and actually LISTEN when you find info you don't like. be academic about it.

like, would you write historical fiction about a village in spain circa 1920 without researching what villages in spain were like in 1920? no, you wouldn't, because it would be inaccurate and awful because of it. treat experiences you haven't had (or haven't seen represented a lot) the same way and you will find success! IT'S DOABLE i've seen dudes write some pretty awesome women in the past, for instance. you just gotta work for it. >w<d

Enelysion Vol I+II

I should add that the same glitch happens during the funeral scene in Ogham! The dude on the left (who's name I can't remember atm, but the on who wasn't the general) from the scene right before it ends up hovering over the funeral scene until either Laine or Pat's portraits replace it. I didn't manage to nab a screen, though! OTL

Enelysion Vol I+II

IT'S A GOOD PLAAAAN

It works now! Thanks for the speedy fix~

Enelysion Vol I+II

Indeed I was! And I'm still quietly fanning, from my own little corner~ >w>

...although I did get to the point where Laine and Pat are trying to talk to the hooded informant, and the scene doesn't work? He says he'll talk to no one but Laine, she says "yup that's me", and then nothing happens. ;__;

Congratulations~!

Hey, good to see you ol' timer.

And oh shit, we do the same thing to de-stress! Crack-shipping forever!

Trying too hard?

This is why I like to be able to jump around to a lot of different activities! I'm currently in the process of editing the script to the second third of the game (and when I say "editing", I mean "I wrote the first draft of the full act two months ago and am now having to throw out most of it whOOPS") which is... well IT'S AN ORDEAL. I enjoy writing the story a lot, but it can also get exhausting staring at a word processor for 50 years, y'know?

So I switch gears and go do graphics, or think about planning out dungeons, or balance battles/futz with the database. If I'm REALLY not able to do any legit work (I sometimes get into "nothing is good enough sob sob" loops, which is not conducive to getting legit work done, ah-hahaha), I think about sidequests, silly character interactions, or doodle the characters doing silly things. It's also a great time to fill out writing memes ("what is x and y's domestic life like?", etc.), since you still get to be thinking about the characters while having no pressure to make things good, y'know?

Finally, you do find peace in accepting that you're going to be better by the time you're finished your game. You can go back and tweak a little, but at the end of the day it's NEVER going to be perfect, and that is fine.

Blow off steam by drawing crack pairings between the characters. 10/10 would recommend A+++++ strategy for de-stressing.
