Revive the Dead
author=CashmereCat
@emmych i like the new title screen but it needs more flames
the whole game is going to be flames. images of fire everywhere. screaming. the chanting of demons in the background. the tears of prisoners of hell will dissolve into steam and salt before they have a chance to fall. all will burn.

basically what i'm sayin' is it'll be a real hot time HA HA HA HA

The scenes do require a bit of research to get them the way I want to appear. So I may only end up doing images for the major scenes ( or flashbacks that can't be portrayed through map sprites, ( eg. a mass slaughtering by the opposition forces, like poor Tristy's Silver Order ).
;___; *prepares tissues for Tristy's backstory*
Meta-Mapping
I like to create a very basic map on paper first. I'm talking like... "This is a village; I will need a weapon shop and an inn and a few houses for flavour and w/e", so I figure that out, draw a real big rectangle, and then draw a bunch of little rectangles to decide where I'll place everything. I do this mostly for the sake of saving myself a headache when I get to staging cutscenes -- because if I need a town square and left no room for a town square, that is a Problem -- and/or realizing I left an important building out.
As for area maps, I start with thinking of how many maps I want the dungeon to be, assigning them a number/letter (Map A B C, or 1 2 3, etc.), and then figuring out how they would connect to each other, i.e. which map exits into which map, what is the path of this dungeon like, etc.
BASICALLY I LOVE THE PRE-PLANNING STAGE because just going at it is not a thing I am good at wrt map design. OTL

[Poll] Your favorite RPG Setting
See I don't really care WHAT the setting is so long as it ends up being mostly characters talking about their feelings.
Fantasy? Make them talk about feelings.
Sci-Fi? Make them talk about feelings.
Vampire Western? Make them talk about feelings.
NO MATTER WHAT MAKE THEM TALK ABOUT FEELINGS

author=SoozAlso I feel this in the depths of my soul. If I have to see one more game that has orcs and elves and dwarves and/or wants to be ASoIaF I AM GOING TO SCREEEEEEAM
In general, I like fantasy settings that aren't just Tolkien-derived D&D fantasy. Pseudo-European is boring as shit now. (Of course, this makes things difficult for RPGMaker creators, since that's the default graphics. :/ )

author=VVBlastFuryVVauthor=AdditExactly! If we piss of Lighting, we'll have a high risk of dying. Laine, however... if we piss her off... we're dead. All of us. Every single one of us.
Holy shit, that beta shot, lol.
Why Rolf, though? And what made you initially change it to Patrick?

I actually don't really understand the comparisons
Because no straight man in their right sense of mind would want to p*ss either one of them off. They’re too scary.
See and here I am, totally okay with a badass lady like Lightning or Laine stepping on my neck or something.
...did i say too much

Poor Laine. Keeps getting compared to Lightning. Maybe she should be called the 'Lightning of the RM scene'.
I actually don't really understand the comparisons? They're both tough ladies, but Lightning is more gruff and rude, while Laine is actually pretty nice, if still a little prickly. She's more efficient than anything, and super focused on her goal.
Lightning is like... very bitter and angry, and she kinda mellows out as she goes. Laine's rages aren't really HER, at essence, while Lightning's are SUPER a product of her internal conflict.
IDK I COULD THEORIZE ABOUT FAKE PEOPLE FOREVER OTL

Emmy! You're workin on Origin again, girl?!
HECK YEAH I AM <3 I've actually been stealth working on it for a long time! It's been, uh... mostly database and writing stuff, so I don't exactly have much to show OFF. I've only recently been getting back into graphics and actually mapping things, so that's been fun!
AND OOOH your screenies are lookin' as nice as ever! I'm stoked to see more Tristian stuff >w>
(In Need) Game Ideas for a First Project
Figure out something you really like ("I like it when a group of people come together and grow to see each other as family" "I like it when I can mix and match skills and have a really customizeable cast" "I like punching a lot of monsters and damage counters with really big numbers" "I like custom shipping systems", etc.) and then brainstorm an idea based around it.
Sorry, bud, no one is gonna do this for you. But really, that's half the fun of it! Think about what kinds of games YOU really like, and what kind of game YOU want to make, and the rest will come. I have ended up with a surprisingly non-lethal game about people awkwardly interacting with each other and a lot of goofy humour, and I'm really happy with that. You will figure out the thing you are happy to make, too.
