Thanks :) I am back. Got a list of stuff planned for the next release.

Also, it might be time to split this thread, huh? We're almost at the 50th page and it gets really cumbersome to search through to find a specific post. I'm thinking maybe a thread for discussion of existing content and a separate thread for discussion of content creation....

RTP NPCs vs. Custom NPCs vs. Ripped NPCs

I have my suspicions that using ripped sprites from commercial games in one's project is more conducive to racking up subscribers than using either RTP (which you are able to use legally) or RTP edits you did yourself (which may not be up to commercial-level quality). Somewhat sad if true.

How much do y'all like midi?

FModEx is hella buggy. I almost gave up on it when I was having a problem with it crashing my game suddenly without so much as a message to tell me why, but I think I managed to fix/work around that and the rest of the bugs.

Just to be clear, reserving an ID number here is completely voluntary! If you want to be reasonably sure that an ID isn't being used by another author, it is perfectly all right to pick a number that is unlikely to be used by anyone and not announce it. For instance, your zip code. For instance, ID = 95672. (Nah nah! That's not my real zip code...but it's close)

Yep, YEN UP and YEN DOWN calls are in fact planned for the next release, so some interesting plot machinations should be possible with that.

And for what it's worth, failing that Looks check with Tsubasa doesn't shut you out of her route altogether (you do miss out on some optional content and affection bonuses), but I concede that it comes up without adequate warning.

And I second the sentiment that there is no such thing as too many twins :)

Heya peeps :) I'm not back yet; a friend is letting me use his computer to go online today.

About a rating system...
Well, I am not the biggest fan of rating systems, but the simpler it is the more open I'd be to the idea.

I've watched how the Little Big Planet system has evolved. In LBP 1 you could rate levels on a scale of 1 to 5. In LBP2 they changed it to either a smily face ("thumbs up") or a frowny face ("thumbs down"). Later they removed the frowny face. So now when you rate a level in LBP2 you either give it a smily face or you don't rate it at all. And imo the developers had good reasons for changing it to be that way.
Anyway, I think we have plenty of time to think about this. There is not that much custom content yet to make a rating system desperately needed.

About designing custom generic events...
You want something like this, right?

PLACE = City

also...

PLACE = School

No problemo. In fact, I'm not entirely sure this isn't already implemented in some form. (It might be one of those feature like repeatable events that I built into the system without telling anyone and then forgot about :P) At any rate, I'll make sure it's there when I get back. I definitely agree that it's cumbersome to be having to copy and paste those events over and over.

A Hint of a Tint

Yup, including such new things as using Rpg Maker to make an RPG :D
Granted, that RPG belongs to a niche genre of RPGs that the RM community is not terribly interested in. It looks like I may have to go outside the RM community to find testing help.

Your taxonomy is impressive! It IS a Kappa, though I decided in the end to call it a tortoise.

And Mystery Dungeon is indeed one of the game's influences :)

Yeah and I'm gonna have to leave that one alone, too, while out of town for family stuff, which chafes me 'cause I'm so close to finishing.
Anyway, you guys hold the fort while I'm gone :)

I don't think it'll be hard to add that feature. And while I'm at it I'd probably go ahead and make it possible to set affection to a specific state, which is something else that has been asked for on occasion.

Won't be able to get around to this soon, though. I'm gonna be away from my computer for the next few weeks. If you don't see me online much, that's why.

Authors write content with knowledge of the question mark events and can plan accordingly. They might not be aware of content written by another user and what it could be doing to disrupt balance or story flow.

But I'm only interested in doing what you guys want. Am I being too protective? Do the rest of you feel the way Dozen does?

If stat manipulation were to be added as a feature, one thing we could do is flag content that makes use of it with some kind of warning in a similar way to how we are flagging content that requires Clean Mode off. Then I suppose it could be ok?
