The action battle system this game has is a refreshing change from the typical menu-based battle systems found in most RM games, and what's more, you won't see all the spells in one playthrough. I played through most of the game without even wanting to escape from a random battle, and from a guy who generally hates random battles that's saying something. Another thing going for it is the variety of puzzles you periodically must solve. Now back to finishing this last dungeon....

Thanks for that!
Well, it seems to be a problem with the file itself. Even the RPG Maker editor won't play it. As to why RPG Maker won't play it but other media players will, I don't know. May be something to research when I have time.

Anyhow, there is a workaround. Simply convert the file to ogg. You can use an online ogg converter like this one or you can use Audacity (which I can confirm works and will play in the game).

While I was troubleshooting this I found some errors that are my fault, for instance any condition involving YEN will not work at all--the game will tell you there is a line "declared after Choice declaration but before first Branch declaration", but don't listen to it; this one is my fault. I'll be sure to get a new version with fixes for these pretty soon.

Please let me know if there's anything else!

Game Balance: The Difficulty of Balancing A Game

The hardest thing about balancing a game for a small-time developer like us is not getting sick of one's own game from having played it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over to fine-tune the balance.

Mainstream games do a pretty good job of balance imo. But it's really of paramount importance for multiplayer competitive games. RTS games and fighting games are, or should be, constantly issuing updates to achieve better balance. For a single player game it's somewhat more forgivable for there to be a few broken items/spells/abilities (and I think with RPGs in particular there is a certain type of player who is more turned on by acquiring broken gear than by anything else the game can offer).

Content creation (technical)

Yep, you will get either errors or unintended speaking lines depending on things. If you release content made on 2.0 we can add a note saying that 2.0 is required, at least until 2.0 has been out long enough for everyone to be using it.

@Sandy87
That is odd. Could you send the relevant files to me (or post them here) so I can try it?

@1adude
Thanks for your feedback :) I will in the future likely be making either a sequel or a game in a similar vein.

Power to the authors!

I considered it, but I think it will be fine with Story 25 not having a condition either, other than Riho being Neutral.

Content creation (technical)

The main download has now been updated with all known bugs fixed. Thank you to triad2 for reporting a game-crashing bug.

Power to the authors!

Based on your suggestion I decided not to change Shihoko's route. I've only made changes to Riho's route. Story 24, the event in which Riho kicks a player off the team, no longer requires any condition other than Riho being Neutral. I like simple solutions so we'll leave it at that :)

Power to the authors!

Yep, that event is hard-coded into the game rather than in the story files. It's mostly to explain how Saturdays work and partly to give a brief glimpse of Akari to create the sense of "I've seen that girl before somewhere."

I think for now I won't change anything except to make Riho's route more consistent.

Dozen is making another way to meet Akari? Interesting!

[XP] Changing default button settings?

Quick question: Where does RM store the button settings? The reason for wanting to know is so that I can distribute a game with button settings that are different than the default.
