If you want true, unbiased equality: People and companies will design games based on what they want to design, and customers will buy them or not buy them based on whether they want to buy them. If a particular gender of character yields better $$$ - so be it. Capitalism is beautiful like that sometimes.

I don't know how you brought Conservatism versus Liberalism into this conversation. The only conclusion I can draw is that you believe Gamer Gate to be a Conservative movement. Except that isn't the reality, now is it?
This. There is overwhelming evidence that liberalism vs conservatism has almost no bearing on GamerGate. Most of the most powerful voices on the GG side are very prominent atheist/liberal figures who rail against the typical liberal targets (Fox news, religion etc) as a central component of their brand.
I can only conclude that the "gamergate = conservative" myth is just another attempt to discredit gamergaters as being right wing nuts, or whatever. Anything to avoid the subject matter and attack the individual.

Video games are already instruments of social engineering! So are books, films, television, newspapers, paintings, music, photography, YouTube videos, concerts, graffiti, memes... Anything that comes from the artistic, creative side of our brain is going to communicate something about ourselves - whether we intend it to or not - and communication is going to lead to change in society and culture. Due to that, people are going to be afraid of communication that might lead to changes they're not ready for, or is harmful to them.
Fair enough. So, what exactly do you want out of all this? I've yet to hear a clear objective, other than simply to antagonize and threaten the career of dissenters and apostates. And also just to insult and troll "nerds".
Do you just want games to proselytize and preach feminism? Sounds like really unfun games. Not specifically because of feminism, but because proselytizing in games is ridiculously lame in general.

By the way, even us white neckbeard basement dweller virgins absolutely love Perfect Dark and Metroid, two games featuring non-sexualized female protagonists who are not just female versions of a male hero. One would think, given this recent narrative, that we'd hate those games, just because of the gender of the protagonist. Why do we love those games? Because they're good games.
Oh and giggly boob smack game? Duke Nukem Forever? We neckbeards loathed it. Why? Bad game.
tl;dr: I love women. I love women in video games, and the game industry. I want the genders to get along. I strongly condemn threats against women. The vast majority of men share this sentiment. This anti-gamergate agenda goes against that and seeks to profit from driving an even deeper wedge between the sexes.

That GGers and those like them are so angered by a woman having an opinion says more about them than I ever could.
This is such a brute force, broad strokes opinion to have. It's just not a reasonable position to take, especially since a large amount of gamergate supporters are women. (with opinions)
Simply angry about "women with opinions?" That's not something I'm against. I disagree with a lot of when Sarkeesian says, especially since it might result in video games being influenced to the point where they are instruments of social engineering, rather than just... fun things to do.
The things she says would be just as disagreeable to me if she was male, female, both, neither, or whatever the hell other configurations of demographic is out there.

This is really good and true.
The difference being who backs each respective side. Anti-GG is mostly establishment types and big media. GamerGate supporters are either powerless peasants or are underground/alternative media.

It really has risen far above Zoe Quinn and her personal life. It has uncovered two sides of a huge cultural war. It is really quite sad how one side does not see how it censors, intimidates, and silences the opposition. And also gets away with massive bigotry and stereotyping toward gamers.
So, as to whether or not I "support gamergate" I really don't care about what it used to be, the Zoe Quinn thing (apparently proved untrue) is inconsequential compared to the vitriol that it has inspired. It's now about professional victims versus those they perceive to be their enemies, even though they... probably aren't that ideologically opposed. But anything short of rampant white-knighting earns one the label of sexist hater whose career should be crushed.
We shouldn't have to qualify everything we say. I shouldn't have to start every post with "I do not condone rape. I do not condone harassment of women." But that's sort of where the gaming industry is heading.

Extortion for disagreeing. How classy.
The evidence continues to pile up that threats are going both ways. One is from the 12 year old COD player who will get put in time-out for swearing over voice chat, the other is from grown adults who threaten harassment and career death for supporting GG.
