The RPG Music Challenge
Thanks, I had some tough competition for sure! (In particular, track #24) Tough theme/rules, really brought out the ingenuity in folks.
Ah, 24 was yours, emmych. Nice use of percussion and the sitar! You should send me the MIDI and I'll render the notes in EW symphonic choirs/stormdrum. it'll do your composition justice.

Outworld
The key to everything is ZSNES and turning off layers. For Front Mission I basically have to fiddle with all the layers until just the sprite remains. Screenshot, photoshop, bam. It's a bit tedious but meh.
Same with Fire Emblem faces. Though those have already been extensively ripped off, placed neatly in facesets, and are readily available all over the interwebs.

If someone doesn't want to listen to 100% of the pieces, they'll have to pick and choose. If titles are displayed, that will affect the choice. Ideally, 100% of listeners listen to 100% of the pieces. But chances are, that's not the case.
It's a non-issue anyway, since titles aren't going in.

Thinking of a title isn't really marketing. It's just thinking of a title. Allows a bit more personality (though admittedly, there should be plenty in the music itself).
But meh, whatever.
Titles are all marketing. What would you rather listen to, Debussy's Prelude To The Afternoon Of A Faun, or "Contestpiece2.mp3"
More listens = more votes = skewed results.
The RPG Music Challenge
I strongly disagree with titles.
It will skew the results. Titles can make or break any form of entertainment. This is a music competition, not a marketing competition. A composer may be very musically gifted, yet completely terrible at thinking of a good title.

Is the defense stat reduntant?
In my current project, I have gotten rid of DEF, and added in physical resistance. All skills in the game refer to an element, which includes physical. The resistance % is displayed in the status menu.
Yes, I think DEF is redundant. Mitigation itself isn't, but I think *survivability* is better represented by HP. Much like FFT, equipment that would normally give high DEF will now give high +MaxHP. Damage types can be more than adequately accounted for with elements.

Any libertarians here?

i don't recall conducting a debate with anyone. harmonic pulled "ugh semantics" on two opposed concepts instead of engaging
why did i think this discussion was going to happen
It's not just semantics, your debate style does not lend it self to an exchange of ideas. It's just an endless circle of tit-for-tat that I have learned, from experience, not to get involved in.
Ignoring Ignorance: Um, what.

Kentona, you are RMN. We love you, faults and all.
Edit: I agree with this statement, much like the janitor from Futurama.
