I also don't need to see the warning everytime I boot up. That's just exessive.
But there are stalkers out there trying to get their hands on your wiistick . . . . . . . . .
MP3s VS MIDIS.

I always thought it was a completely different format like SPCs or something. My bad for not being an expert on this field.
You are correct but it is functionally just a different MIDI standard. It's still a MIDI format.

Most of our files were made from scratch by someone entering the notes into a sequencing program on their computer, either by a MIDI keyboard or note-by-note with a mouse.
This is a lie.

I'm sure the converted files usually need a little touching up, but writing the music note-by-note is a huge pain in the ass and I'm extremely skeptical that there is enough of a crossover between the three groups of: autisitic nerds, musicians with good ears, and people who are obsessed with classic games. Harmonic is an example of someone who loves to transcribe music by ear and he's quite good at it, but he's a rare breed and you'll have a hard time meeting enough people with both his talent and his interests. Considering there are thousands of contributors at VGMusic this raises suspicion.
If I recall the VGMusic forums had a huge battle a few years back about people converting SPCs because it had turned out many of the most prolific members of the community had been converting files. Because converted SPCs don't always sound great (even though all the notes are correct) this accounts for the vast majority of MIDI files that have all the notes down but sound mysteriously odd. Doesn't this sound like the result of something run through a converter and not through the careful, detail-oriented hand of the sort of person who likes to transcribe music?
Resignation pt II
Yeah I am sorry man but this is the most thinly veiled April Fool's joke ever. However I am willing to take over Hero's Realm even though you are kidding.

They aren't actually. The SNES/NES MIDIs you find on the internet are actually homages to the original songs.
Okay you're being ridiculously semantic right now. The music wasn't necessarily written to 128-voice General MIDI Standard like you see on PC soundcards, but the music still followed a MIDI Standard of some sort. The point is that the SNES had a sound chip that would take data stored as a series of notes, with parameters such as velocity and pan and send it to synthesizer instruments stored on the sound chip. The result is music. This is what you call MIDI music, or Musical Instrument Digital Interface music.
Also just so you know most of the MIDI files you find online are actually ripped from the ROM and converted to a .mid file. Transposing by ear is a noteworthy hobby but it doesn't represent most of the stuff you'll see on sites like VGMusic.com.

The PC has been my favorite for five years now. Apparently most games can be played on the PC, like:
I like PC games a lot but I very rarely play one game for more than about 10 hours or so. Except for Titan Quest because it's the biggest surprise in gaming ever.
Worst video games you've played this year
Call of Duty 4. I don't really know why people like this game because it's so incredibly dull and mindless. I like shooters a lot, but Call of Duty is just the worst kind of shooter out there and gives the genre a bad name.

Yeah did you do that art? The use of gradients in your shading is unusual and pretty bizarre but it actually works out pretty well.
Anyway I have to try this over the weekend!

I can do a songwriters Top 10, because that is something distinctly different. Same with composers. I'm not splitting up Groups, Artists, Singers and Bands because they are essentially the same thing.
Well I think you disagreeing in terms of language because I didn't write very clearly and we still agree actually.
Anyway the difference between a group and a band is that a group writes and performs their own music, while a group is something like a string quartet or big band or orchestra that plays existing music and probably doesn't write anything new.
