I have 1000 wii points burning a hole in my pocket...

Didn't like the item names. <icon>SWRD

Yeah, that sucked. The localization team was really lazy and didn't do any font programming for variable-width fonts or even skinny fixed-width fonts and just replaced the Japanese characters in the game's database with English ones. Apparently 4 characters is enough to describe something in Japanese.

It got really bad when you'd find something like a BrSd and you aren't sure if you had a Brazen Sodomite or a Bronze Sword.

Japan has cheap Wii games, maybe America/Canada will soon

Only 20 bucks (2000 yen)! Amazing! These are the ones I saw:

Brain Training Game
Dragon Quest Swords
Wario Ware
Fire Emblem
Dragon Ball Whatever
Naruto Whatever

I always thought Nintendo was all about never lowering prices on games because of whatever reason. Mario Party 4 was 70 bucks at Futureshop for all 3 years I worked there. Amazing. I picked up the Brain Training Game today (Wii de yawaraka atama juku), and it's awesome!

Does America already have this? I'm probably over excited, but fuck it. I hate spending 60 bucks for games. Is Wario Ware worth getting?

I can't really answer any of your questions other than that I am fairly certain Dragon Quest Swords will be a budget title. I paid $50 for Fire Emblem recently.

Hard Parts of Game Making?

Making autotiles work. I always use my own graphics or original graphics made by someone else, and by far, autotiles are just the worst and most frustrating thing ever.

CPU problem NEED HELP

The one thing you should know is that installing an OS other than the one your PC came with voids the warranty.

I'm pretty certain that all of the new hardware I've put inside has already voided the warranty <3

It's good to know that drivers exist for some of my other components. I'll need to look into getting them so that I can use some of the useless crap sitting in my tower (like my soundcard).

I wrote some more music.

Thank you for the positive feedback guys. I am extremely proud of this one!

Can I ask, what program do you use for your music?

I use Cakewalk Sonar for sequencing and songwriting. I also have Fruityloops, which I use occassionally if I get a job for some cheesy techno or something. I also run Fruityloops as a vst inside of Sonar if I want to access some of its synths -- Sytrus is very nice for example.

The major sample libraries I use are Garrittan Personal Orchestra (I used to use this exclusively), EastWest Symphonic Orchesta Gold (I want to get the extension but it is expensive), EastWest Symphonic Choirs (overall this was a collossal waste of a lot of money), and Storm Drum (I haven't used it much yet but it seems like it's very good for the price). EastWest's sample libraries are extremely expensive but they are excellent. Garrittan's libraries are not as good but are extremely affordable (they are the cheapest high-end sample libraries out there). Pirating these high-end sample libraries is possible but extremely difficult if you cannot afford them; it costs about $2000 to get a good arsenal of quality sample libraries.

Also, do you do midi's as well?

I almost never render to .midi format. When I am composing, however, I am actually writing a .midi file and that is how I save my music. What you hear in the recording is a .midi file being played through a series of high-end sample libraries.

Also, for either midi or mp3's, do you actually play the music via keyboard etc?

I usually play every single part with my keyboard. I will usually correct mistakes and quantize by editing the performance, but I think that it's important to play each part (as opposed to sequencing everything) so that it isn't too "perfect". I have a few keyboards, but my primary keyboard is an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88. I really recommend it if you get into working with music on a computer with a keyboard, because it's one of the best MIDI controllers on the market and is pretty affordable considering its featureset.

Top Ten Topic: Sports

6. US Football
I have a small interest in US football because I played it in High School and because Madden games are pretty good. It's a really complex sport and I find the strategies really interesting. I never play it anymore; not even touch games with friends or anything. Whenever I'm at a sportsbar, though, I take genuine interest in the game. I guess my favorite team is the Packers, because I'm from Wisconsin and because they won the Superbowl back when I played football, but I could honestly care less.

5. Soccer / Real Football
I don't follow competitions, but I think soccer is extremely fun to play. I'm pretty good for an amateur; whenever a group of random people (such as friends that don't play soccer but are reasonably athletic) get together, I am almost always the best.

4. Volleyball
Volleyball is just way too awesome. I never watch this sport either, but it's really fun to play.

3. Frisbee
Nobody here likes frisbee? I love both Ultimate and Vanilla varieties.

2. Running
My favorite serious sport is the old-fashioned footrace. Whether a sprint or a distance run, I'm game. I always win. I jog pretty often to stay in shape.

1. Badminton
Badminton is just WAY too awesome to even describe with words.

Other than these sports, I am always willing to take part in some casual athletic event because I am a reasonably athletic person. I really have no interest in following sports, though, and the only game I think is interesting to watch is US football because it's such an intricate game.

Considering Versus Xerxa was basically the only RPG Maker VX game made in 2007, I'd say it's sort of a shoe-in...

In my opinion it's a really fun game, anyway. It condenses the entire experience of playing a full-length RPG into about three hours. Incidentally, it does this all with a supurb sense of gameplay balance and progression. It really is a lot better than most RM games made.

Actually that was all of them!

Thanks for the nomination, Him. However, you should wait until the Misaos actually start so you can do it for real. :)

Well I am just bringing it up because nobody else did.
