The Last King of Hyrule
author=halibabicafrom nin8halosIt adds a fun little gimmick for a few stages. That's all. If anything, they'd be easier to implement since we're more familiar with Mario mechanics than Link ones. It's not like you'd be playing as her in every other level or something. I think you're blowing this a little out of proportion.
why try to shoehorn Toad/Sheik into this? What does that add to the game?
It's the worst idea ever. YOU'RE DESTROYING EVERYTHING.
The Last King of Hyrule
If the whole point of this project is to make a game that suits Link's unique mechanics, why try to shoehorn Toad/Sheik into this? What does that add to the game? We really need to focus. That's usually a problem with these group projects, and it's the reason I inevitably drop out.
Given the number of people involved, I doubt there will be any lack of variety if we stick with just Link. Adding another character with different abilities will just complicate things. And the workarounds to pull it off are going to be really awkward.

We should designate an official helper/hint NPC, too. All the Zelda games have those these days.
Yes!

So wait, are we going for NES style or SNES style? That's kind of an important distinction.
I think we should go for GBA style, like the Minish Cap.

It would be difficult to explain with a screenshot so I will attempt to explain...
When you enter SMBX level editor it's a gray screen with your toolbox at the bottom and your level screen at the top-left, now on the top-left side of this level screen, I can place blocks and whatever without cause for concern, on the bottom-right side of the level screen the cursor disappears and I am unable to place anything. Increasing the screen size, using XP compatibility and re-installing the program have all proven ineffective, erm... SOS?
EDIT: Notably, It works whilst you're testing (But that won't work for designing levels)
EDIT II: I just found out quite how many errors SMBX has on this computer, I'll have to switch computer...
I've been having that problem since I switched to Windows 8. I just scroll until everything I'm working on is out of the problem area. It's annoying, but I haven't found a better solution yet.
A collaborative Link game in SMBX

However it goes, we may want to make a plot excuse for why Zelda shrinks into a midget when injured by monsters. ;P
Why not use the same plot excuse they used in SMB2?
New Direction
This time around, we should have a bigger hub world and longer levels. I'm also thinking we should add cutscenes. The previous RMN Bros games didn't have much dialogue.
I'd also like to see more levels that use things like the Billy Gun or propeller blocks, and levels that force the player to use certain characters, like Peach or Toad. We should also try to get in at least one Link level per world.
