SMBX-Overflow Error
I think this error is because I put too much stuff in a level(though it's a really big level compared to the amount of stuff placed in it), but I'm not sure, most of what I placed are background items to go along with the saw blade NPC. I just want to know how to fix this, and what is causing this in case I'm wrong.
Atmosphir story and ideas for more Creepypasta
Atmosphir story and ideas for more Creepypasta
Does anyone know if it's possible to create a creepypasta such as Lost Silver or Ben Drowned. Or is it like a meme, which I heard can not be created. Does anyone even know what a creepypasta is? I have gotten a few ideas for these creepy stories, and had wrote one on this one site called Atmosphir, when I had first learned about CreepyPasta. Has anyone hear wrote anything along the lines to a creepypasta, anything like it?
This is the story I wrote:
Some people on the site was actually scared.
Seeing this is the place to post our creative works, I felt I could post this here.
I do have ideas for more, including Mario 64, a story on some beta games, ect.
Have any ideas...
Edit:by the way, for some reason this thing glitched up, some of these show hide buttons aren't suppose to be here, and it looks strange...
This is the story I wrote:
author=pyroboom"Done!", John told himself, as he finished his first Atmosphir level. It was the normal beginners' level, incredibly short, not much professional gameplay and it seemed very broken. Really, John did not care, he just looked happy as can be to have at last made a 3D game...or at least a level for a game. John went to play test, and began playing. He seemed quite happy with it, till' he saw something he never expected. It looked like another player, except with incredibly horrible animations, glitchy, and it was black and white almost. It looked strange, also. It was the perfect look for such an imperfect model for a game. John was very confused, "Um...what the heck is that? I do not remember placing that in my level!"
The thing began to attack him as he was trying to run away, then Atmosphir shut down, after John got out of the level. John got back into Atmosphir, and looked at one level in the level browser. The level was named "Block", the creator was JJ849, which was John's username. He went into the level, wandering what had happened, only to see he was trapped in a black box. He did not even start at a start flag. The monster was back, and was continually killing him. John jumped out of his seat when he saw the thing again, and clicked out of Atmosphir. He went into the files, and found something called,"Hero", it was strange to see such a normal name after such crazy things occurred. He looked at the properties, and found that the file was last used when he got out of Atmosphir. He looked up some videos, and realized that Hero was originally made for the beta of Atmosphir, as a way to test the game engine out. He wandered what had happened ever since. Every day, every night he wanders how the file came back into the game, with such strange affects. Was it a glitch? Did someone edit the version of Atmosphir he had? He looked around for clues, and the only things he could find were stories on suicides because of video games, and the words "hero" on some windows, walls, and doors, spelled in blood. The houses were owned by parents of Atmosphir users. John looked into the files again, one day, and remembered a strange tune that played during the level,"Block", it sounded so glitchy, it made a game crashing seem like the designers meant for it to happen. He found the file, and put it into his a music editing software.
John played the track, checking the pitches, the volume, and if there were any backward messages in it. Nothing. The only thing he did not do, was check the frequency. He looked at the frequency, and in the middle of the song, he saw Hero. It made the creepiest noise when the frequency picked up the image of such a strange being in a song. It did not do anything, maybe because it was just a picture in a song. but then, John went into Google Chrome, with the song still playing, went into the Atmosphir forums, and made a new topic. He typed incredibly slowly, every bit of info he had found. The last thing he typed was,"I'm going to kill myself."
The next day, his parents looked at the computer, and saw blood near the computer chair. They looked at the screen, to find the words "Hero will die", on the screen. The mother looked on the floor, while the father still stared at the screen. The mother started patting her husband, crying because of the sight. The father looked down at his son...
He had a bloody hole in his head.
Some people on the site was actually scared.

BTW, maybe I could write horror stories instead of creepypasta...if I even did so anyway...

RM2K3-Well, this patch may be a problem

Oh sorry, misunderstanding then.
Sorry...anyways, do you know how I can fix the picture size bit?
[2k3] events not triggering (also climbing, running, jumping)
author=voluceris
so, i just started putting together the maps and events for a new game, all very skeletal at the moment. it's the first time i tried implementing run/walk and jump buttons (since there are jumping puzzles and things that chase you).
there are ladders and other scalable surfaces in the game, and i'd like for the character to be able to switch to a climb sprite as she goes up, which i tried to do by way of an on-touch event that switches her to the climb sprite if she walks through it and back to the normal if she walks back, and another at the top with the opposite (probably not the most efficient way, since if a player decides to jump in that direction they could just jump passed it, but i'm an idiot).
doing so made me realize something: events aren't being triggered in my game. since the only thing that could stop them from triggering is other events, and the only other events i've got in the program right now are the run/walk and jump buttons, i guess something in them is stopping it.
those are the common events for the run/walk and the jump. is there something about them that would stop on touch events (they're both pp)? also, is there a better way of implementing all three of the actions? sorry if i seem clueless i'm not very experienced with eventing.
Um...question about your jumping events, are you jumping OVER these events. If you are, I think we've found your problem. XD Yeah, I'm an A-hole when it comes down to getting chances to make jokes, anyways, in all seriousness, I don't see anything wrong with your events here that could cause this. I'll check again later.
5 seconds later edit:Maybe because the switches aren't right. You have certain ones to toggle, instead of turning on and off, what does the toggle do exactly?
RTP NPCs vs. Custom NPCs vs. Ripped NPCs
author=Tau
I say we pit them all against each other in a fight to the death, we call it..
I've already got 2 games going(the Virtual Reality game I'm making, and me and BlobOfGoo's game Super Mario Seasons)
SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE THIS.
RTP NPCs vs. Custom NPCs vs. Ripped NPCs
author=Neverm0reauthor=Archeia_NessiahYou, sir, have video games figured out.
Graphics is the only thing that matters guys. Not the game mechanics, the systems or the plot!
< /sarcasm >
I get that, I was just asking.
So...any other opinions?
Super Mario Seasons
RTP NPCs vs. Custom NPCs vs. Ripped NPCs
We can all agree that Custom NPCs are the best, but to what point? Custom characters are better than the cliche Alex and his group of four traveling through RTP land, but when you have nothing to work with sometimes you had to do that, wasn't that what it was like back when 2000 and 2003 came out. Now there are sites for people who need sprites, and people who can make sprites for you, but sometimes I swear that certain sprites look so much alike, that they could be from the same person, or from one of those sites where thousands of people are downloading the same sprite. Could custom and ripped sprites soon become cliche, have they already become?
The reason why I'm asking this is for your opinion, in what ways can RTP characters and tilesets come out on top vs. customized characters and some from other games. My RPG maker 2k3 game shows both Customized main characters and RTP NPCs, mixed with edited RTP tilesets. Does this sound like a good idea?

Secret content: How hidden is too hidden?
Too hidden in my eyes:When you have to edit the game or cheat just to get the item. There are some items that may be beta, and sure they aren't part of the game anymore, but I feel they should count. If you make an item, don't waste it! If it works about the same as the most powerful item in the game, don't take it out! If you need more space to put the item in, that's the only time you should take it out.
Did you hear that there is a summon in Kingdom Hearts 2 that if you cheat to get it, it crashes the game? Yeah...don't ever take stuff out unless you REALLY REALLY need to take it out, or else your game will not work, or your parents are threatened of murder for some reason because of it. If it's because you don't know how to program it, get someone else to do it, or get out of the game developing business now.
