What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

http://www.freeindiegam.es/2012/11/52-adriaan-de-jongh/

I found this short... game... called 52 today. It's about 5 minutes long and pretty cool.

What a Twist!

[Poll] Which is more important: Story, Graphics, or Sound?

Neither one is more important -or- in other words, it depends on the game. Some games require really nice graphics to get their point across, while other rely on sound or story more.

For example, games that are trying to recreate a realistic or possible situation, like Call of Duty or Spec Ops, rely on higher fidelity graphics to connect the player with his or her actions. Horror games rely on sound much more than graphics though, because audio can be used so well to create tension and anxiety. For a fantasy game, the story is key, but graphics are important as well, because you are trying to pull the player into your pretend world, and careful writing mixed with fantastical aesthetic will truly make your player believe that your world is real while playing.

It really ultimately relies on what your game is trying to accomplish. I've played plenty of fantastic games that were mediocre in one or two of these aspects.

anywho, I voted Graphics of those 3, because it is the easiest thing to use to draw people to your game, and I interpreted "important" as meaning "getting your game played"

I wonder... how would a game with minimal or no graphics, but with a voice-over directing you work? For example, you play as a blind person in the future, with a computer-guided headset telling you your current situation, and all you know is your controls. So to get up and walk down a hallway, you have a voice that guides you and then says, "There's a door to your left." or "A monster is swinging its claw at you!"

...this actually sounds like fun and I might try to make this one day.

Presidential elections

I really really just wanted an excuse to use the word simulacra. I heard it a few days ago and I fell in love.

Good topic people :) it got me to get off my ass and learn more stuff

Presidential elections

Damn I just realize we did almost make it nine pages. I'm embarrassed :P

Still I've been too busy setting up a circle of candles and incense around my copy of Dreams from my Father to notice. My life-size Obama simulacra is almost complete!

Presidential elections

I'll tell you what, I did learn a lot from the more informative posts in the topic. And, it got me to do some more research and I enjoyed it for the most part.

Anyway I'll be over here praying to the Loch Ness Monster or whatever it is us Democrats do

Presidential elections

I believe we have reached an impasse

Presidential elections

A portion of Republicans think Hitler was the second coming of Jesus. There, I said it. Let's all agree to never vote for those Hitler-loving bastards.

Or we could stop considering one person's ability to speak for any sort of majority, whatsoever, because that's the kind of foolishness that leads to racism and bigotry in the first place.

Me, I'm gonna hedge my bets against the party that has accepted and proclaimed that they are vastly anti-homosexuality and anti-civil rights. Not just one lunatic, but an entire party has accepted bigotry and advertises it publicly.

[Poll] Death Note - was Light Yagami right?

Absolutely not. As much as it was his idea to eliminate crime - crime is relative. What if he decided all soldiers should be killed? What if he didn't like bananas and thought banana eaters should be killed?

As silly as that sounds, Light was bent mentally by the end of the series. It wouldn't surprise me and I would never want to put that much power in the hands of any one person.

Unless that person was me, obviously... and even I'm not that responsible :P

Kill the Screenshot Topic

My problem is I don't associate people on the forums with projects, like, at all. When I see a cool game I completely forget who made it, unless it's someone who's either made a really awesome game I loved, or thecatamites because (s)he just sticks out a lot.

Talking to people on the forum is cool, but I wanna see projects! And I'm too lazy to click on your name and go to your profile! I'm cool with people showing off a little bit :P In some respect that's what we're here for, right?

Jude: I think it's for either/or showing off or asking for help, depending on if the poster is specifically asking for opinions.

I had always assumed that americans took guns everywhere

Yea, it really depends on where you work. At a blue-collar job it's more relaxed, a lot of us used to bring in our rifles every day, although some put them in the lockers until lunch. In a nicer business setting, rifles are considered tacky and the people who want to get ahead or suck up stick to the more tradition pistol or possibly a shotgun.
