STARDUST'S PROFILE

Developing and designing games, and everything that goes with: Storywriting, programming, designing grafics and other contents... it has always been a fascinating passion for me. <3 I'd love to work as an actual game designer.

I first came into touch with enterbrains RPG-Maker a few years ago. And since then I've stumbled upon many different engines and other "makers" but the RPG-Maker seemed to always pop up again. So I started my first "serious" project, entitled "Numina" with it.
Numina
Step through the 4th wall… into the world of NUMINA! An exciting adventure that fuses many classic RPG aspects, a character-driven story with player choices, a dynamic battle system, puzzles and towns

I think you should add a little bit more detail like bushes or flowers to the grass, Craze. Interesting game title though ^^ I wonder what the bag in the upper left corner contains

The Screenshot Topic Returns

As promised: the trailer from which I took the two screenshots ^^

The central location is a place called "Wolkentempel" which translates into something like "Temple of the Clouds". There are some small parts from an earlier version of Numina included for direct comparison with the reworked parts of this location.

But I planned to properly introduce my project soon around here.

Looks promising. I just did a really exhausting but good looking scene for a trailer. So I guess it won't hurt to also use it as an submission for this contest...

The battle system looks really interesting! I like the slightly slanted perspective and the interface.

@chana Thanks! The demanteling can be seen in the upcoming trailer :3

Gathering data during gameplay. Yes or no?

This is a really interessting topic. Like with achievements there are some really interesting other data to be collected, like the decisions made by the player. BioWare published a statistic of their game Mass Effect 2, showing that most of the players chose a male hero\Shepard or other storyevent-based decisions.

I implicitly did this with my current project Numina in a community. I asked the players which of the (back then) two romance options they like the most - and the result and the ongoing discussion was really interesting to follow, from my perspective - the creator of those characters. Just to see how they are perceived and so on.

@Far_Oz I've never played Chrono Trigger, but the middle screen looks awesome!

Here are two excerpts from an upcoming trailer of my project Numina. I'll release the trailer on the first day of 2012 =)

As you can see it's sort of a before and after shot

Sideview: Turnbased or ATB?

I have to say that I'm not really picky when it comes to battle systems - as long as I feel comfortable using it. But I've encountered some ATB systems that make the battle really seem rushed, where you don't have enough time to really get into all the mechanics and planning your strategy.

I love the ABS-like variation of some titles from the Tales of series, if it doesn't get into mindless button-smashing

Hey!

I'm actually looking forward seeing the game getting tested by some serious, dangerous testers ;3 In my opinion this helps to improve the overall quality of the game.

Movie Influences

New ideas find me spontaneously. Sometimes I get some sort of vision, it can happen anytime and literally anywhere xD But it also helps when I listen to Soundtracks, other music or watching movies and so on (although I fear that I'll steal ideas from the stuff I'm watching - unconscious, somehow >_>)

What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

Edit: And I am boss contest entrying. The force action command is truly a mystifying thing. Stop targeting random enemies when I tell you to heal someone specific, stupid healer.
Good Luck! I remember that I had a few problems with the force action command int the past too, but I'm sure you'll find a way =o

Currently I'm thinking about a different approach on mana, magic points or whatever resource you need to cast magic in my project. Maybe some sort of interval, that automatically fills up your MP-gauge, from time to time, depending on the mana-concentration in the current location. It would go really nicely with the story. But I'm not sure if it's a good idea to totally abandon the idea of mana-potions and stuff like that...
