Whoa, better turnout than I expected, and most of you seem to know your way around a kitchen better than my friends which is good.

Craze, you and I have a very similar approach to cooking, except for your dislike of meat. I generally keep my kitchen stocked with lots of culinary building blocks (and other, less common ingredients that are to my own taste) and play around a few times a week when I run out of leftovers :p we both also seem to be really diet-conscious about cooking; a foundation of grains and veggies is not only nutritious but delicious :p

HOWEVER:
EDIT2: Okay, so we made two cookie pizzas and he made one that was round and I made one that was shaped like batman and I swear George Clooney is the best taste in the world.
That is incredibly awesome, but I can only take so much Clooney before nausea kicks in. Michael Keaton, however, goes down smooth every time.

Natook: I can relate, brownies are my absolute favorite treat but every time I try to make them from scratch they only sometimes come out better than Duncan Hines mix and even then only by sheer luck. :x I don't get much baking practice though.

Also Orig what you have described with the brown rice and fish happened to me last week. Salmon.

Today though I made a shepherd's pie and it rules. Its awesomeness even caused a very picky friend to eat and enjoy lima beans* :D

*the most underrated bean.

This may not be the biggest RM forum, or the most prolific, or the friendliest, or the hardest working

But anyone who says it isn't the sexiest is a damned liar

related: booble a girl I had a massive crush on a few years ago had a 'do just like that, you most certainly should keep it for a little while :p

There's a terrific chef inside you just waiting to burst out of that bashful shell GRS.

Also Goons With Spoons is a great source of home cooking info for the novice and pro alike dudes (yes, Something Awful actually has some subforums that are good for things)

How are you guys rating your own cooking ability? I love eating what I cook and almost always get nice positive feedback from people I feed (except for "i don't really like onions" type things, a lot of my friends have the palate of a picky 3 year old when it comes to certain veggies) but objectively speaking I have no idea where my cooking skills are at

this is why i keep a kitten-based explosive device containment and disposal unit (KBEDCDU) in my house

content-filled post while I'm at it:

This might have been asked before. How many of you guys/gals cook? Are you good at it? Do you LIKE to cook? Are you like me in that you are an incredibly food-motivated individual who views food as the ultimate creature comfort, therefore you put massive amounts of thought and planning into your meals?

It seems like a shocking number of people my age (mid 20s) can't cook and essentially live on take-out, microwaveable food, etc. Not only are they spending lots of extra money on food, most are getting a bit pudgy and slow as a result of their diet :p

edit: sucking with words wtf brain

yeah I was under the impression that self defense implies defense from danger, should I have written more about defense from kittens or defense from plaque buildup or something instead?

Well their rock, horn, and feather-based technology was still better than both middle age eras before it.

Also they had stone age robot arm attachments.

I hate reaching a new town, spending nearly all of your money on new gear, and then discovering a new town with even better gear within the next 10mins or so..
As an extension of this, shops in towns selling gear that gets outclassed by gear found in the next dungeon,
which is outclassed by the next town, etc, etc. It's especially annoying when the dungeons take very little time to clear...

Or when you completely outfit your party with the best weapons and armor in a town, then go into the next dungeon and find the same shit in treasure chests.

Somewhat related: you know how when you get to the stone age in Chrono Trigger they have better weapons and armor than you found in the future? What the hell is that?
