A² is doing 3D! It's the end of the world!
Coming along great :D
re: using 2010 and snapshot
I just recently upgraded to 2010 and love it. I normally upgrade 3DS Max grudgingly (and mainly for compatibility with others who have mindlessly stayed up-to-date with the last few trivial iterations, the most notable feature of which has been "not backward-compatible with previous versions of 3DS Max") but this latest version is a freaking GODSEND. I love 3DS Max but it was really starting to fall behind and what they've added/incorporated as core functionality from 3rd party plugins takes up most of the slack IMO. Now I don't have to brace for impact whenever I advocate Max as a general-purpose modeling tool.
*happy dance*

well there is definitely a difference between good beer and bad beer and like art, food, music, film, and other highly subjective consumables, it is possible to have very in-depth and awesome conversations about beer. However, most people who rant about beer do so smugly and without being prompted, and because lots of people like beer and it is a given that all have their own preferences they strike me as people who are really hard up for unique qualities and decide that "doofus who splits hairs about beer" is better than nothing.
If you're just picky about beer though that's not a problem and (edit) I'm totally not referring to anybody here just fyi :D

why can't you just say "If you're doing this to impress me you can stop because I cannot relate to what you're saying at all Jesus Christ aren't you at least interested in trying to engage me in mutually enjoyable conversation instead of droning on about top-fermenting yeasts and shit that is clearly boring me to death"*
if I heard a girl say this to some douchebag who was spergin' on about his boats or ATVs or his favorite beer or something I would probably immediately propose to her, or at least take off my pants
content: steaks, onions, milk, cheese, dr pepper, cayenne pepper, deadbolts for gram's house (stolen purse/keys D:)
*the old me wouldn't have appreciated this kind of bluntness but that was before i spent a few years at nerd school with people who will take your lack of response as an invitation to describe in a detailed timeline the evolution of their favorite yu-gi-oh deck fkhjkajshasg

So how about that health care reform?
Please don't say anything about financial aids because them dudes make you jump threw hoops covered in fire with a bed sheet of sonic spikes underneath.if you consider filling out a 30 minute online app and supplying tax return information to be this bad then you will be capital F Fucked in college anyway
only bitch part of applying for financial aid was getting all this parental information because I was under 25 at the time and therefore "financially dependent" on my parents despite not living with them or receiving financial support from them for several years, and then still having their income count against my eligibility for need-based aid (as well as my declared ethnicity -- fucking awesome). The only consolation I got was them readily admitting how asinine the policies are. "Thanks guys, how about we try running it again with 'Juan' for my dad's first name instead of 'John'?"
What are you jammin' too?
Impossible Video games

Also Maximum carnage. The second central park part, i think, I could never get past.
Yeah this game was rapey, even co-op. I don't think I ever beat it either
What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Really depends on what you want to use a 3D modeling/animation suite for, as well as a good amount of personal preference. I've been using it since version 7 and I find it to be pretty rad for lots of low-med poly modeling, texturing, keyframe animation and even things up to and including baking normal maps, lightmaps and stuff (for some reason very few people I know are even aware that 3ds Max can do this and often switch to ZBrush or something to do it in, but it's pretty easy to set up in Max and the results are just as nifty). My main concern is with creating game assets. If I was looking for something to do more high poly/cinematic/scripted animation type stuff then Maya would be a no-brainer for me. Either program works in either scenario though and Maya seems to have been gaining popularity among the gaming crowd for years now.
also personally I found Maya's interface to be pretty clunky and needlessly obfuscated when I was learning it; Maya and I get along fine now but I find 3DS Max to be a lot more direct and a closer mapping to my understanding of how 3D graphics work :p
