MISAO = FIN
Posts
I'd say the Misaos are just a way to summarize the year, to remember what highlights were being made on a timeline basis. I mean there is the realization that most people voting probably haven't played every game released, but I guess if a game's screenshots beckon you to try it out in current year it's a win on its own.
Misaos also give you super powers

My game can't seem to get nominations for some reason. Maybe I need downloads?

I think I already said you need to have a download in order to be nominated or reviewed. There is no category for best game page, but maybe there should be?
Anyways if you don't have a download what would people nominate your game for?
Also, you can't nominate your own games (so it will be blocked out for you when you visit your game page.)
I wonder if it would be worth my time to write an article about how this stuff works... And then just link it every time someone asks me :) Is there currently any article about the Misaos?
Currently everything I can find about this topic:

No, I've had a download before, albeit a temporary bug finding one, but maybe the download was too brief? It was only up for less than a day

Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

Your download needs to be publicly available in order to be nominated. Since you took it down or marked it for testers only, it can no longer be nominated for Misaos.
If it was simply the case that a download was available for less than a day, my gut tells me that the game could have been nominated during that very brief time period. However, if it was available only to other developers and testers, and not a public download, maybe the game wouldn't even have that time period? I'm not 100% certain of this, though.

Lets also make one for the most promissing game stuck in development hell and call it "Very Venerable Vaporware".

That sounds like a good Wisaos category.
Yeah, I finally got my article approved.
Now every time someone asks about one of the rules I can just hotlink this baby.

I think you can add Lakria Legends to the list of current predictions. This game certainly deserves the recognition!
I added it.
Reminder: Only a week left to get your nominations in.
Edit:
I can't view the nominations, but is there any category that needs nominations?
Crescent Moon has a brand new shiny demo.
YOMOTSU won a certain competition. Another game from that, which is finished and around RMN is zDS's Mownt.
My favourite game when it comes to look is 1998. I need to play that one really soon.
Talking about graphics, Momeka was really active this year.

The two best games I've played here this year is The Ranch and Chii's Challenge. Granted I tend to stick to short games, so I haven't tried any of the longer rpgs on here.
Im not against commercial games being able to be nominated, my current project is something I am hoping to sell but its just me and a composer. As long as there is a demo for download here I think it should be fine, but then i've only released one game on here so thats not my place to say really, just an opinion. I think celebrating hobbyists that try to make that jump from just a hobby to at the very least covering the costs of their development time (which from asking around seems to be all the "success" about 80% of people who have released games on steam ever seem to achieve) is a pretty noble idea.
I also haven'y played a single game this year from here so my opinions are invalid. B)

I can see an issue from the perspective of commercial games potentially having more resources and the like, so thus better quality. However, given that we have absolute lunatics like unity around doing commercial-quality hobbyist stuff, that's kind of no longer a distinguishing factor. :V
Also no opinions are valid here. No lives matter.

It's a pretty grey area and there's not a lot of distinguishing characteristics for a commercial game anymore, other than "It's being sold." On one side, you've can have people making freeware stuff with amazing production values, and on the other side there's zero-budget RTP games being sold on Steam. Maybe there was a distinct line at once upon a time, but not so much nowadays.
Too many good games coming out at this time of year.
May want to add Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy II too.

Lots of good games being released recently, but remember they need to get the nominations before the 31st. That's the downside to releasing games near the end of the year. Other games have had a lot of time to get people to play them.
author=MomekaWow! That means a lot, thank you :)
