WHAT WE DID HORRIBLY ON OUR FIRST GAMES.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Well hey, at least you didn't spend a year and end up with that. For a two week time frame, that's about what I expect.
Hahaha, Lost Chapters still on Queen's Court.

I just downloaded it and found this in the monsters folder.

That is the best monster I have ever seen.
I take back saying anything bad about my first game. Here is definitive proof that the game was awesome.
Oh man I need to get my hands on the RM2k RTP so that I can play this.

First the characters talk in English, then the next scene they talk in Japanese. Then they talk in Thai (my native language).
I have no idea what the heck was going on in my head at the time.

Man, "Phoenix" had too many things wrong to even think about them all...
I can tell how much I've improved with this new game.
I'm not sure if I still have all the resources to make that old hunkajunk work...

I remember not being able to use switches and thinking I just had to keep creating new maps when anything changed. lol.
One of my earliest games was a game called "Past to Future", sometimes spelled "Past 2 Future". It was a game about a young boy who's teacher chooses you and a few others to go to the future in the time machine he just built. (it's never specified what exactly it is the teacher's teaching, but all of your classmates are warriors) Although this part of the game takes place in the 1600's, his time machine is located in a room with futuristic graphics. I actually had no idea how the story would unfold after this, but the young boy teleports into a spaceship called the "Electron" in the midst of a war sometime in the "3000's", and his portal to the past is "blown up" by enemy missles. He then teams up with two guys in trench coats who also appear in the game's intro.
After that, I actually completed a game titled "Alex the Adventurer" that starred every one of the default rm2k characters. I actually kept all of the characters on purpose. It's about 2 or 3 hours long and is a comedy game, and although I made it when I was 11 or 12, some of the npc's actually do have pretty funny dialogue. I played through it for the first time in years a few weeks ago and I found myself laughing at it's dialogue and overall stupidity.
The story line is perhaps one of the worst ever. When the game begins, the king tells Alex, a soldier, that he must deliver a package to the world capital. Before he leaves town he teams up with his perverted best friend Brian. When he tries to leave, he runs into "Warrior Brad", the red armored RTP soldier. He won't let you leave town due to a "thief problem" so you fight him and leave. As soon as you enter the world map, a thief steals your money and enters the town. You make your way through a forest and afterward a witch who "knows of the package". Later on you meet "Deiji the Crazy Priest", a retarded priest, and you get a boat and stop at a town called "Snow Pole" so Deiji can talk to his friend April. She tells you that inside of the package that you are carrying is actually an ATOMIC BOMB and the king wants it to create a "bigger" bomb.
After this you travel to the World Capital to kill the king, but as soon as you reach the castle, you get thrown in jail by Warrior Brad who now hates you. You escape the castle jail and you attempt to defeat the king. After the battle however, he sends you to ANOTHER jail to be executed and you escape AGAIN. Later on, after traveling back to your hometown to tell the other king about what has happened, you see the World Capital's king get killed by an evil RTP demon named Steve and you find out that you are the "chosen one" and you must kill him. Along the way you meet the rest of the eight default rm2k heroes, all of which have a gimmicky personality. There are some weird plot twists in this game, one of which is that Deiji the Crazy Priest is actually Alex's father and April is his mom. Another weird part of the game is that you're sent to the future to fight your great great great great great great grandson for no apparent reason.

First game I tried to make was at a friend's place with RMXP 2k back when I was in grade school/early high school...I never got past the third town.
So, here's the breakdown:
You start in the hero's hometown, which has two houses. One for the hero (Shameless Author self-insert), and one for all of his friends. Then, you go to a castle on a nearby island, where a king sits on a stool in the courtyard, and throws you into a whirlpool for no reason that leads to a dungeon. Which is one meandering strip of minecart tracks over water. Then, after killing a "boss" (3 slimes), you came out of a well in another town that was comprised of three counters (shops) and your best buddy sitting on a stool and-Yeah, I think you can see why it sucked...
TLDR VERSION: No story, plot progression that made no sense, terrible maps, and a king that sits on a stool and does nothing all day but throw random people into whirlpools. >_<
The second time I tried to do something in RPGmaker was in college. And what little I have of it wasn't BAD (my characters were likeable, at least). Just unbearably cliche, and with really bad map design. Except for ONE town/dungeon, which I'm actually proud of to this day.
Fortunately, my third venture into RPG making territory is going much better.
EDIT:
Oh yes....I remember doing that too for a while. One cutscene had like...6 copies of that map....XD

The thing I did most horribly was twofold.
1. Never finished a project
2. Never joined a Maker community which might have given me motivation to finish
I could have had a cool legacy like some of the regulars (and irregulars) here ;-;

Back in my first project on a friend's computer (I didn't even have the program myself), we didn't know how to work switches (well more accurately we didn't even know that they existed), and instead of using switches we were constantly adding useless items to the hero's inventory to switch event pages.
ugh..same here.
My first project was a game that used RTP characters but Kazuyoshi Hazumoto
Chipsets.
I made that game just to insult the super cute RTP characters.
author=ArandomgamemakerIsn't that what 9 out of 10 people are doing todayincluding yourself?
Using RTP, oh god, using the RTP.
Hmm... Trying to make a tactics simulator with the varibles in rm2k. This turned my first project about building a bandit army way out of control, and the gameplay was broken.
That, and using the rtp music.
That, and using the rtp music.
I went ahead and "played" through the first game I made in XP recently. It was obviously just to get used to the system, learn eventing and so on.
Purely RTP, all the characters had names like "Butt", and were either ridiculously overpowered or were guaranteed to die in one hit. Also, there was no plot, so it was literally just wandering around, talking to people, occasionally recruiting a party member and fighting elemental spirits.
Only thing I was mildly proud of were the maps. Hopefully I can map as well in VX... though it's not looking very likely at the moment.
