While relaxing on a peaceful afternoon, Mega Man gets word that the ancient robot museum has been ransacked and precious copies of old Robot Masters are being stolen and revived to do battle once again! Mega Man teleports over to the museum to put a stop to this dastardly plan and find out who is behind this nefarious plot!
This game will features quite a few levels (20 to be exact) with 10 full Robot Masters to choose from initially, rather than the original number of 8. Features of this game will include:
-20 levels with 1 secret level included!
-3 rush upgrades: Rush Coil/Marine/Jet
-7 more upgrades to find that either increase your health per item, reduce damage, give you a one-shot invulnerability to spikes, let you exit a level early or slowly recover health and more!
-Tons of alternating and branching paths per level giving you full freedom how to best tackle any one level!
-3 Bounty Hunters who pop in randomly throughout the 10 Robot Master stages, its up to you to finish them off right then and there or fear facing them once again in the final stages where they will be harder!
-Classic movements including: jumping, firing, sliding, mega buster charging, etc.

Megaman: Revenge of the Fallen Abridged - Released!

And you all thought it was an April Fool's prank?!
Yes, the Abridged edition is now out for download and play. Basically, there was a huge backlash from a variety of people who said the levels were too long, the checkpoints too sparse and in general the game being just exhausting to play. So...I made a separate version with these features:

-20 Shortened levels
-No alternate paths
-No permanent checkpoints since all levels are normal length
-No MM Killers in the main stages (a big gripe for difficulty)
-MM Killers in Wily Fortress only (as a result, their weaknesses do less damage)
-All upgrades can be found on the main level paths

Enjoy this 'cut' version of the game which is released completely separately from the original. There will be huge swathes of gameplay cut out as a result of these changes and people who play this version will not see the final chase scene in Wily 8 since keeping it in would have kept the stage more or less the same length. If you want the full experience, play the original, if you want an abbreviated version, try this one instead! Either way, ENJOY EVERYONE! :D

We are now looking for initial testers for the alpha testing starting in 2-3 weeks (roughly). We don't just want people who have a crapton of time and nothing to do; we also want testers who have skill too! Because this game is close to the difficulty of the original Mega Man and Megaman & Bass. If you find those games hard, then this might not be the right testing position for you. Furthermore, I need testers with patience who don't mind playing areas over and over again until they find every bug or possible location to die. If we want this game as polished as it can be, we need testers who are willing to help make it so! You'll obviously go in the credits. If interested PM me with your email and maybe a sample of your qualifications. (like what other games you've tested, etc.)
So what is testable right now? We have the intro stage, 10 RM stages and the secret RM stage. So that's 12 stages total. We still have to complete Wily Castle and a myriad of other things, but that should suffice for alpha testing.
Beyond that, for everyone else, look for a neat promo video on this page soon! ;)
Congrats for being on the Spotlight : Development. :D

By the way, fix the blue color, it 's really hard to read. :|
I would love to be a tester:) I've played and almost mastered every side scrolling megaman game in history except for 9 and 10 (which I really want to play). I really hope this project becomes successful because Capcom isn't doing the series any good right now. They cancelled Mega Man legends 3 and a Mega Man X reboot, so I really am starting to hate the company.

Anyway, keep me in mind if you need any more testers.
Being a die-hard fan of the retro Mega Man games, I can't believe I didn't see this before! *subs*
Hope this game won't be too difficult!
the best is not use midi, and use music in ogg or something like nes made with some vst or something
about the graphic the same, make some own graphics,
I can help you if you wanna :)
have you thought about adding a challenge mode like mega man 10? I would like to be tested with a series of mini levels that test your skills. If not, that's ok, but it would be nice.
Yes, there will be a 100 room challenge which is quite like you are describing XBuster. Furthermore for gadesX, we are looking for great 8bit pixel artists to do new cutscene graphics for us for both the intro and the ending and even a title screen.

I drew the cutscenes for Pi: http://rpgmaker.net/games/4904/images/35213/
If you like the style and depending on how much work there would be, I would volunteer.
Looks awesome and difficult.
HOLY CRAP! HOLY SIMILAR CRAP! This game looks great! It's like emulation perfect... without the emulator! You should turn this into your own little series. If Capcom won't save the little guy then I guess you can! Bravo man, well done. I'll definitely be playing this.

i'm sssoooooooo glad you did this!!!
This game is great:) Your level designs are a lot harder than I thought and I like that. Mega Man games have always been about challenge and this game captures that accurately.I will be testing throughout the next few weeks or so and give you feedback on anything.
Glad to see this project is still alive and kicking. Can't wait to play it when you're done DFW. Been itching for an old school Megaman game and I'd say this is just what the doctor ordered.
I have tried meegaman(neva played but tried) before and it is cool. Just a demo but I may try this one anyway. Looks awsome and now I can finally play megaman.

EDIT: Darn. My bad. Looks like there is no demo. Oh well. I will still patiently await the completion of this game.

This looks awesome! Not a huge fan of the midi music but I'll play the hell out of this once its released
game maker engine... honestly can't say i've had any real good luck running games made with game maker in the past. usually i get a error somewhere that crashes the game unexpectedly (kinda common) or whatever the intended control scheme is, it usually acts clunky at best.

guess what i'm saying is if i download this game i'm gonna have to simply hope it'll run correctly unless you've pulled a miracle here and it somehow ends up running the game with no problems anywhere >.> well, guess i'll give it a go once a download is up and just see what happens.
Our goal is to have it compatible with all systems. We have tested it so far with Windows 98 and Windows 7. I can guarantee it works on those two systems. We are also thinking about releasing a Mac and Linux version also, but that'll come later.
We are on the home stretch, we are working long hours to see if we can do a late November release to make it in time for the 25th anniversary.
