Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

Nope, the game is real easy. It's an imperfect game, I might add. Deserves an average score ( even if I did spend 2.5+ years on it >< ). But I got EXP and levelled up, so I'm not complaining. XD
I dunno, yuney, I’m actually really enjoying this game thus far in, probably more so than the Tristian demo that I played back in February. I mean, yeah it has some minor annoyances here or there and among some other things, like being able to sell key items (if you're an idiot) and that stupid Sledgehammer event trigger to open that door in the temple that took me almost a half an hour to solve (even though I HAD it and Siglud equipped it, I couldn’t trigger the scene unless I de-equipped it first), but it feels a bit more user friendly in terms of the overall challenge and combat. Hell, even the story and most of the main characters are pretty well developed and incredibly well done for something that you supposedly were just “winging it the whole way through.”

Plus, Laine is into the bar scene. Does Tristian like to go into every single passing town’s bar and have herself a drink? Pfft, hell no, gotta keep up that prestigious reputation of hers!

Plus, this game has Siglud. And Siglud is pretty god damn awesome at what he does.

(Which is trying to hit on Laine.)
Yeah, Siggy always amuses me to no end. I was thinking of letting him and Laine er... shack up for one night, lol.

Only disappointing thing is no-one has written a review for the game yet. ;_; But I'm assuming you'll probably write one after you finish the game, right? XD

I would think that it would work if both of them got drunk one night and Siglud just pretended to be Patrick while Cillian is used as a distraction to make sure that Patrick doesn’t find out anything about it while they’re staying at an Inn.

But, as much as that would be absolutely hilarious, I actually like Patrick and I’d feel quite bad for the guy if something like this happened. Besides, he reminds me too much of another Patrick of the same name who worked with us at this one place I used to work at, strange dress attire and all. :)

Oh-ho, yeah, of course! I mean, I did make a promise to do it originally back in...March, if only to maybe save this franchise from the depths of despair and give it a second season.

If that's what it possibly takes - then that's what it possibly takes.
^Captain Addit to the rescue. XD And I see the game is less than 300 DLs away from 3000, whoo!

But take your time. No rush, you know. =)

Yuna I'm confused, do you mean Enelysion Vol 1 doesn't have reviews, because I can see 3 of them. Or do you mean Vol 2, which doesn't have a download (though probably did in the past)?

That being said, Addit's reviews are always fun to read, heck the one for TLotL is what made me sub that game.

..and if it is what it takes to get Vol 2 from Cancelled to even Hiatus (but preferably Production) I'll write one too!

No, the old demos for Enelysion have reviews. The full game doesn't have any reviews so far.

Well that's a bloody serious oversight. I'll add it to my list :)
@nhubi: Thanks. =)

How is this game still getting downloads...? 0_o It's slow yes, but noticable.

Well at least one of those was mine, I had to re-download to review it, as the last version I had was called Red Dawn so I know there have been changes.
The most recent version is 1.3, Halcyon Days. That's the one you need to have. =)

Yep, that's the one I got.
Hot damn was that Eos Shrine freakin’ tough as nails! That first boss in there wiped out my entire party 5 times before I was FINALLY able to beat it thanks in large part to Cillian and his amazing Piercing Thrust ability. At the end of the fight, I only had Cillian at 3 HP while everybody else was knocked out, that’s how hard this boss fight was, grrrr!!!

The second boss wasn’t too bad though, since my Patrick had just learned Mercy afterwards and I had a few extra Helios and Nieheim rings on me to help out good ol’ Siggy’s chicken and Cillian, so that was okay. But still, what a major jump in difficulty compared to all the other bosses I’ve fought so far in this game. No wonder that one guy in Lothlorien said “have fun trying to survive in there”.

Anyways, I’m almost about done with this game; just a little bit more left to go. I apologize that I’m taking my sweet ass time, but I’ve been a bit busy lately and haven’t been feeling that great as of late, but little steps, I guess.
Yep, the Eos Shrine is my favourite dungeon in the game. XD Avinchii is a nasty bastard. But he was even harder in the earlier versions of the game.

And nhubi beat you to the review. XD Neverless, your reviews are always fun to read, Addit.
Can someone please tell me how you get to ulaid forest. I know approx. where it is but can't find a way to get to it. Thanks

Flyer1 head through the Kulean Valley via the mountain path to the west of the village of Lidgetton. Once you've got through there (there is one slightly hidden path where you'll need to walk along the eastern edge of a map to proceed) you'll get to the northern end, then it's simply a case of walking up to the entrance to Uliad. Have you fought the Helian from the hunt? If you have you exit via the map where you fought the beast.
Found it. Thank you nhubi. I had just defeated Helian but never went back there to see that you could get to the Ulaid forest from there. I spent hours trying to find it.

No problem, glad I could help. You're almost at the end of Volume I so make sure you've done everything you wanted to do in the game.
Amazing what a review does, doesn't it, nhubi? ^^

Indeed, gets things buzzing :)

Imagine what'll happen after Sir Addit's goes up!
