Plot Overview

In the world of Linguardia, the nations of Rikalia and Dorent are the reigning powers. Although both leaders have been at peace for centuries, a dark cloud is on the horizon. King Richard, leader of the Rikalian Empire, has recently lost his wife and daughter to a pack of demons. Now, his mind twisted from grief, Richard is on a quest for domination. His plan: to harness the power of the six legendary crystals, which, according to scriptures, will bestow the wielder with unimaginable powers if brought together. With Richard on a path of destruction to collect the crystals, war seems inevitable.

Players take control of Epoch Lander, Captain of Richard's Dragon Knights, an elite force within the Rikalian Empire. However, when Epoch begins questioning the morals behind Richard's actions, he is arrested for treason and sentenced to death. With his head full of unanswered questions, Epoch must decide whether to accept his fate or fight for what he believes to be the greater good: even if it means fighting alone.

Soundtrack Complete!

Jose has just finished the last two songs of the soundtrack, bringing the OST to a grand total of 36 songs. With those final two, the Forever's End soundtrack is now complete! I really have to thank Jose for all the hard work he put into these songs. They all sound fantastic, and I can't wait to release the next episode with them implemented. Great job, bro!

Do know though, there are a few songs that will be included with the game that aren't custom. Not many, but a few, mainly because some of my cutscenes were already built around these songs. However, all of the ones included on this gamepage are the custom ones composed by Jose.

With the soundtrack complete, I thought I'd list out a few of my personal favorites. If you have any favorites, please comment and show Jose some love.

Traveling - Overworld Theme

The Reprieve

Dangerous Wilderness

The Death Knight - Marcellus' Theme

Spiritualization

Journeying Forward

Cutting a Path

In the Heat of Battle - Boss Theme 2

A Dying Planet's Last Breath

Why do all main characters have to be bishonen pretty boy's, i'm just saying a guy that young isn't a captain.

Your avatar pretty much is a bishonen pretty boy. Don't cha know.
This game is AWESOME. The only thing I want to mention is that it really relies on a ability/spell combat system, and you rarely use your regular attack, so even though you already have a full roaster for episode 2, it might be interesting to have a "monk" class character who primarily uses his regular attack, and almost never uses abilities.
Just started playing this game for the first time a few days ago. It's phenomenal, NicoB. The story--yeah, it's cliche, but I don't really judge cliche stories. The characters are awesome.

In fact, I'm finding Lee and Goldo to be among my favorites so far, which is odd to be honest as I don't generally like gimmick class characters in standard RPG's.

Hey thanks a lot, Mitsuhide! I'm glad you enjoying it. I'd be interested to hear the rest of your thoughts once you've finished it.

You need to adjust the position of the statues based on the story written at the beginning of the puzzle. So, if the characters are facing each other in the story, odds are their statue representations need to be facing each other as well.

If you're still having trouble, let me know and I'll PM you the answers.

lmao at the image on your page, Forever's Ecchi. I came.....to see it...in normal fashion....yeah..um....was talking about the bikini girls of course.
Just finished the first chapter. Really stunning work, NicoB. One of the best games I've played from this site - mapping is great, game is fluid and the diversity in standard characters and specialty characters will make some interesting combinations when we get them all together in the future. I'm highly appetized for more.
Hey thanks a lot, cory! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hope you will check out Episode 2 when it rolls around.
just wondering if theres a guide for upgrade coupons/ goldo's item listing or will acutally try to make one because those things are so hard to find.
Just finished Episode 1. Very good game, NicoB, well done. Don't mind some hollow criticisms, do continue working on this game as you have, it's turning out great. Now, what I think.

Dialogue is good, not great at times, but it works most of the time. Original artwork is great, especially for the scenes... but it must be said that Slade looks like an old frail woman. So that's not very cool. Oh, and Elise has spooked eyes.

I see you're getting some original music and that's great. The music you're using is not bad, but easily recognizable. Many of them are from Shadow Hearts (which seems to also influence the story) and I don't think they really click with your game. And I don't mind the file size, I mean, c'mon, we're in 2012 (almost there), computers can store so much data now.

Sometimes the characters seemed too weak for the monsters, so this was a bit annoying. But all in all, battles are ok. It turned out interesting how every character has his own skills and traits, but it was a bit tiring near the end to play from so many different points of view.

And as for the story, it's not very original, but it doesn't have to be. Many people don't get that, and they try to do something different in their games and that doesn't work well. Your story works, it's flowing well, and I'm anxious for the rest.
I DO care about filesize... just because my internet sucks. It took me one hour to download the game (30-50kb/s).
Anyways, I gotta say, that hour waiting was WORTH it.
I'm currently starting the "Lee" part of the game (you, as the maker of this rpg, shall know what I mean, right?). Your game is really challenging, I had trouble with a boss a while back, but I could defeat it using a little more of my brain..

Anyways, thanks for making this game! I hope to try Ep. 2 when it gets released.

I'd make an RPG, but I'm too lazy.. Guess I'll have to end with this bad habit of mine of quitting everything I start when it takes too much time.

I love the top title so much ^_^
Hey Nico,

Loving the game, it's awesome. Love the nostalgia!

I keep encountering a bug which is pretty annoying. Every time an enemy does a 'special' move, I lose the boxes around the menu commands/items. Any workaround? It seems to happen on bosses and when Captures fail.

I took a look through the posts here and didn't see anything.

Thanks,
lucid
I appreciate the comments and criticism, guys. I'm glad you all are enjoying it so much. And thanks, benos. :D

@lucidrose: Hey, thanks man. Hmm...I might know what you're talking about. Does the message box turn into this weird transparent red color? If so, that usually happens randomly when 2k3 changes the message display (which I do frequently). One of the many strange bugs of 2k3. It's sort of out of my control sadly, but it usually fixes itself immediately after showing up once. I didn't have it happen very often though. Is that what you're talking about?
