Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Hey again WheelmanZero very glad to hear your positive feedback!

I feel the same way, for me I'm struggling with a "condition" right now and it prevents me from being able to focus on making a game, I have a lot of time but it's still limited for various of reasons. I know I'm improving though and eventually will get there. It's really odd since I'm still fine and good with conversation, and those skills are coming bak to me even better, but I still can't actually do a lot of normal activity. I'm hopeful that'll get better too over time.

Anyway back to you, that all sounds very exciting and interesting, you just take your time and if you ever need a quiet moment to yourself to get rid of some stress, take that just to keep yourself ok.

Am happy to hear your doing well and moving forward with your next three projects. Tackling all that at once and the other things you mentioned, I can imagine would require some patients to get through them all.
Just hearing anything from Wheelman on this thread is nice for me, let's me know that it will eventually come out and that he's taking his time instead of rushing it.
i look ubtate anoncment blog when whell present what wil be in ultimate and i notice exp for neax lv have incress sigh im not a grading fan i hope you have great holday and mabe your agenda of you lie will be more free happy new yar in advance
Thanks for all the good will and understanding guys, it means more to me than you know.
WheelmanZero, I might have found a bug in the game, the Phoenix Dive from the summon: Phoenix, don't work, it only miss, and question, why some of the summons cannot evolve,The Hornet Queen in that case, she is a little useless in the later game,at least for me, and the phoenix leaves a little to be desired as well, but don't get me wrong, this game is amazing, it just needs some tweaking in certain places. Sorry for my english, I am a Brazilian.
Yo Cabuloso! I just tested out that move and it seems to be working just fine. It doesn't have any lower accuracy than any other physical move, so you probably just ran into a string of bad luck. Physicals aren't guaranteed to hit, and they're more likely to miss when you're going up against something with high agility. If you're blinded, their accuracy goes down even more.

Using all the summons isn't really necessary to beat the game, but I liked the idea of giving the player options for how they want to approach battle and which summons they'd like to use. I couldn't find a battler I liked that would pass for an evolved version of the Hornet Queen, and several of the other summons like the phoenix are already fully evolved by the time you get them. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself, and your English is perfectly fine.
i dont know if this wrong place or i do wrong, but i just wish if there will be another of this kind game, you added more management thing like upgrade caste/base etc, and would be good too if could hire guard/soldier, while it might silly but i going to let it out anyway xD
I think there's a game series that does that called "Overlord". Never played it myself, but I've heard good things about it. Uh...the non-mobile version anyway. I really do hope we get to see some more villain games here on rmn. It's a genre that's ripe for the picking.
hi i notice there a bug in tower i can di id i kill the boss champion when pandora di game over after scenes and have finish seren cast hou you manage to go in story seren withoutt create incoerence
Hello Mr wheelman, what a great game you made ! i just register on this site to post this. I don't post generaly to game makers, but this time i feel i have to do so, because i realy enjoy. No bugs (and it's not so common), a real scenario, with real caracters and their history, battles without boredom, and it's a great feeling when you can control ennemies, and the music you made yourself isn't it ? So i say go on, you have realy a good touch for game making. Best wishes 2019
Don't worry, I squashed that bug a while ago. You'll be able to see how both parties stories overlap when the time comes.

Thanks Darkon, but none of the music in this game was made by me, it was taken from about 3000 different sources. I honestly don't know how people who make custom music for their games pull it off. Do you guys have little orchestras in your pockets or something? Anyway, I appreciate the kind words and am thrilled that you enjoyed yourself. It's the whole reason I shared the game after all.
i personaly think the game is too over rate yeat it have goood senario and charac bat alway five or four star it too positif fotm me that remin me if this a way to get allcharacther same level because when idpo final boss marcus is leve;l 15 it hard you shoud put option no combat fight learn exp or mabe put social link like in persona to improve more backgrond in sequel
I think a certain software has been developed a few years ago. Just input the notes etc. for each instrument and it can play/emulate orchestra music so well that even professionals can't tell the difference between the software-generated and real orchestra music. There's this tiny hitch, though, that this software costs at least 10000 $ (at least it did when I read about it). Either way, it's "just" one successful kickstarter campaign before you can call a "pocket orchestra" your own. ;) And everyone else probably hires a local orchestra or one from a country in Eastern Europe. It doesn't always have to be the London Symphony Orchestra.

By the way, I was planning to write an article about my "ten most favorite RPG Maker JRPGs of all time", but it's probably a good idea to wait until I've played Umbral Soul's Ultimate Edition sometime in the future. No pressure. :)
That's fine dd33, everyone's entitled to their opinion and there's no one game in the world that everyone likes. Doing what you're suggesting however, would turn this into an entirely different game. Like anyone who uses rpg maker, I build games to my personal tastes, but I don't expect everyone to share my tastes. It's a big world after all!

TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS?! Uh, I think that might be a little too rich for my blood, but at least now I know how other people do it, so thanks for the heads up Kyle. Riiight, no pressure at all. This is a distinctly pressure-free zone. I am not feeling even the slightest bit of pressure. Now pardon me while I continue taking deep breaths into this paper bag.
I prefer to listen to other music when playing JRPGs, unless they feature self-composed music, recorded by using an orchestra (or this really good software), which means I play most RPG Maker games in muted condition (I'm glad that you plan to provide the player with the solution to the music puzzle about which I read by chance a while ago). You don't have to get into debt just to change my customs.

Furthermore, I really hope these posts troll people into thinking the Ultimate Edition has been released, if it teaches them how to adjust the subscription settings and to ignore the "buzz". :D
https://musescore.org/en someone recommend that to me but I've never had any time to try it lol
you can also use https://www.audacityteam.org/ to remix sounds.

You're a disgrace to every user here on RMN, dd33. I don't say this often, because I'm a great supporter of freedom of speech, but for you there's only one appropriate advice: Just shut the fuck up!

Whoa there gents, let's not get nasty. Real life stops for nothing, not even gam mak; a sad truth I'm afraid. I recently returned from a three-day trip to North Carolina, where my grandfather's funeral was held. I'm not saying this to fish for any kind of sympathy, I just want to use it as an example of how life doesn't stop for anything, and you can't predict what it's going to hit you with next.

I love rpg's. I love making them, playing them, and seeing what other kinds of awesome ideas other hobbyists like me come up with. If I had my way, I'd devote a lot more time to working on them, but life isn't always what we want it to be. I feel like I've said this before, but this is the last time. I will let everyone know when I'm done. Until then, please be patient. No amount of nagging will get the game finished any sooner. Dd33, I would understand if you were new to the game and curious about a release date, but I must've told you at least 5 different times by now, so please stop asking. Thank you.

Uhh...did all that sound polite? Because I was trying really hard to sound polite.

Edit: Right, I almost forgot! Thanks for all the awesome links guys, I really appreciate it.
