Shouldn't Have Used that Megalixer, You Were Going to Lose Either Way!
Give the player advance warning that you might not be able to win this fight, but you won't get a game over if you do. Also, give the player the option of actually winning, and make it mean something at least in the short term - you can still have the party lose in the long run, but having won that one battle won't give the player any satisfaction if the joys of victory are taken from him/her right then and there.
STEPPING IT UP: Status Effects v2
Influenza/Disease
Random chance of losing 3%-5% HP during turn start and when performing an action. Physical attacks may inflict "Influenza" status on target. Status evolves into "Fever" after 3-5 turns if not treated.
Fever
Accuracy decreased by 3% each turn. Random chance of losing 7%-15% HP during turn start and when performing an action. Physical attacks may inflict "Influenza" status on target. Status evolves into "Unconsious" (same as "Stop") after 3-5 turns if not treated. Immunity to "Influenza/Disease" increases temporarily after this status has been cured.
Meltdown
Combines "Berserk" and "Confuse". Player control is removed until cured. All stats increased by 30%. Attacks friend and foe. Inflicted with "Stun" at random.
Premonition
Improvement of "Death Sentence". Increases accuracy and evasiveness by 100%. Random chance of being inflicted with "death" after 3 turns or automatic cure. Cannot be cured otherwise.
Deep Wound
Random chance of being inflicted with "Stun" upon taking an action. Victim's Max HP is reduced by 25%. Can only be cured by magic. (Not even inns)
Combustion (Basically "on fire")
Victim cannot act. Random chance of being inflicted with "death" each turn; chance increases the lower the victim's HP is. Enemy units that physically attack this victim are also inflicted with "Combustion".

EDIT: I have little emotional control, and cannot be reliably expected to contribute to anything for any number of reasons: a lack of apathy, a stubborn attachment to my own opinion/belief, a plain lack of interest, etc.

I think it's shitty that supposedly evenly matched players win with certain characters, however, I don't think any 'Tiers are for Queers' movement matters at all. This isn't a social construct; there is (hopefully?) organized and collected data that supports these lists, and if they turn out to be true, there's no disputing it.

This game is very well made. For an hour or so, you get a great deal of variety, level-building aspects, and that socialization factor common amongst sims. The presentation is fresh and stands out amongst most RPG Maker games. I felt, though, that having to pick an area to explore was like taking a shot in the dark, and as a result it didn't feel all that rewarding, especially those moments when you found nothing but got launched into combat anyways.
Also, It didn't take rocket science for me to realize, after looking at how focus increases, that those red orb shields those specific enemies emit at times could jack up my focus really high if I just sat there with my shield up. And unfortunately they did, so I already had max focus after the second fight. ;_;
Still, great job. I was entertained, and that's important. =)
