World Outside
Hmm, there's a couple of tricks in the water area. The two key puzzle mechanics are:
1. shooting switches and bombs from a distance
2. shooting a bomb and then getting past a door/bridge before it explodes
If that doesn't help let me know and I'll put together a video of the water-way since that area confuses a lot of people. :)

Guilty Pleasures
Resources, originality and theft
Resources, originality and theft
Original graphics are over-rated. If you insist on wasting your time on original stuff and don't want others to use it, stylize your entire game or use anime where applicable, that way none of the good game makers will touch it since it won't fit into their own games.
Making your graphics PNG files with translucency for things in VX and XP also helps, since those makers are less friendly towards rips in general (though you can make them work of course.)
An aside for Feld:
In America this is a positive, so keep cultures in mind. It's +2 if it's with your friends WIFE. /sarcasm (maybe)

that's a pretty messed up thing to do to a comrade. It's like sleeping with your friends girlfriend.

Love for the Tales series
A lot of the Tales love really comes into whether you can enjoy the combat or not, since regardless of which game that's what it really comes down to.
The stories are actually some of the best in RPGs as far as I'm concerned, and the characterization and voice acting in the last few of them has been fantastic compared to other RPGs (and other voice acted games in general...)
Skits are pure genius and something I'm working into one of my own projects (super easy way for lots of extra character development that isn't required).
I know the highly anime-feel can turn off a lot of players, but the battle system just gets more and more deep as you get into it (much like a fighting game with learning how to chain together artes so you can juggle opponents or reduce your own open time between combos or even create infinite combos) so it can be a dull series if you don't enjoy that.
Each new iteration adds new features that really change how the combat works; Abyss added free-move and had it's Field of Fonons bit (awesome when you learned to use it) and Vesperia has added Finishing Strikes, which are the greatest thing ever.
My only complaint about Tales of games are:
1. Sometimes less required fighting would be nice
2. Less dull dungeons and puzzles (the solutions are usually simple and the dungeons longer than necessary)
3. Some extra systems are less useful than they could be (see: Cooking, the PSP Tales of the World does cooking right, along with crafting!)

Action Game Maker trial released!

There is going to be an unofficial translation regardless if Enterbrain releases in the future or not. Just use the pirated version or the eventual English patch of an imported copy if you want to use it that much.author=ankylo link=topic=3233.msg65155#msg65155 date=1236291251My source comes from Enterbrain themselves. What's your source???
I've heard otherwise :-X
I only saw one e-mail from Enterbrain and it just basically said they don't have a 'date' for it yet.
Can you link to the e-mails so we can read them? That'd probably speed this up a lot. :)
'Important Discussion' time guys...
Or you could just post your games in the Game Manager and not make threads that will get derailed or ignored.
Honestly it works. I've got like 60 downloads and no drama on something released a week or so ago.
This is why topic threads for your games are unproductive; if people were really serious about giving feedback wouldn't they go and look at your game pages to research and then play it?
On average we really aren't all that interested in playing each others games, but we LOVE to make our opinions (usually stated as fact) very clear. Just use the Games section.

Lost Universe
I have never even heard of that happening... and it happens with all GameMaker games?
I did a little searching on google but couldn't find any references to a similar problem, so I've got no idea. :(

Hey Anaryu (anti-lag script)
Whoa!
So, um, I need to update that fix then. Everything else is good now thanks to GreatRedSpirit? :D

Project DOAD
author=Fallen-Griever link=topic=3208.msg63576#msg63576 date=1235601208
The style of anime in the RM2K3 RTP is completely different to the one used in Project DOAD. Therefore, a comparison between the two is about as valid as comparing The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy with Steamboat Willie. What I will say about this game is that the style of drawing used reminds me of The World Ends With You, which is possibly the best RPG released in recent years...
@Anaryu:
Graphics are as much a part of a game as the gameplay is, and although we all know that what matters most is whether or not a game is fun we also have to consider that, for some people, having bad graphics can detract from the "fun-factor" no matter how good the gameplay is. Fun does not equate directly to gameplay.
Yes, so please play it and come back and tell us if the art ruined it for you. And if the art is something you hate so actively, just don't play it.
